Nero 7.0.1.4

Recommended Posts

Nero 7.0.1.4 was just released a mere few hours ago. It isn't even listed on Nero's website yet, but there are links to download it from all of the many Nero servers. I would expect it to be up on the website later in the day, but you can enjoy the links and program now. As more and more people start to download this, the speeds will begin to crawl, but many mirrors usually end up popping up outside of Nero's servers a little later on. :)

There is no changelog yet, obviously, but the hope is that the famous audio CD skipping bug that was in Nero's initial store shelf release (7.0.0.0) and the first web update of it (7.0.1.2) is now gone, along with the visual bug that caused the word "Demo" to appear in various places even after the product was registered.

This should work as a primary installer as well as an update installer.

Without further ado, here are the links to the download of the English language version without the Yahoo! toolbar. It measures in at 105,539,392 bytes (Windows will report it as 100 MB). If you would like to download the version with the Yahoo! toolbar, simply change any of the URL endings to Nero-7.0.1.4_eng.exe. I have tested each of the links personally and they did indeed work when I tried them.

Nero 7 still needs a lot of work, I went back to 6.6 in the meantime. Somehow burning a DVD with Verbatim media now takes 30-40 minutes when it used to take 2-4. This is on both my DVD burners. Even when I lower the speed (from 12x on my NEC to 8x/6x or Pioneer to 6x) it doesn't make a difference.

I'm debating whether to switch bake to 6.6 myself. Version 7 sure has a lot of annoyancies..

When I install the updates, I used to have the "Demo" thing too... I found out that if you extract the files with WinRAR and then use the internal installer, the "Demo" will not appear... this was with the old updates version.. but maybe they fix that.. but you guys can test that out... don't download the 100meg and install it.. extract it with WinRAR first and then use the extracted setup.exe... hope that works for you guys...

Well firstly, the Nero 7 has HEAPS of problems, here is some:

File Extenstions Icons: It seems that it has lost all my files extenstions or some how replaced them icons. If I open a window, im presented with WinXP old stlyish icons for about 2 seconds before they change over.

Demo Version: I brought it, yet it still says im running a demo in ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Broke CD Burner: Since upgrading to Nero 7, 2 of my friends cd burners have broken. Maybe Nero caused this?

Bulky: Its way too bulky. I dont even know what half the crap does lol.

CD Auto Run: If i let Nero handle this, it seems to break it as when i enter in a cd, it asks me what i want to run it with, but it seems to be blank.

Anyone else having these problems? I have not tired this new version as yet. Anyone conform if these problems have been fixed?

I've gone back to Nero 6.6 as imo Nero 7 is a pos. 90% of what I burned with it (i burned about 10 discs with it) came out as coasters, saying that there was an error just before finishing, great load of help that error was. That was on 2 CD-Writers in 2 different machines too. Gone back to Nero 6 now and not had a single coaster. Get your act together ahead!

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
