My New Aquarium Screensaver - give it a try!

Recommended Posts

for people who are experiencing this problem, rename the file "C:/WINDOWS/Dream Aquarium.scr" to "DreamAquarium.scr" (take out the space). I'm really not sure why the spaced version doesn't work on some machines. I suppose i will have to change this.

Thanks for the fix, it seems to have worked (& thanks for taking the time to PM me as well). I NEVER use a screensaver (well, I haven't for about 5 years), but this one is making me come around a bit. Assuming this is "stable", and reasonably priced, I would consider purchasing it once it goes gold......Hope you are getting good feedback from all testers, & I look forward to future revisions. Good luck w/ this endeavor..

Thanks for the compliments and feedback. No word on the mac version yet, but it'll be at least a few months :( And if you like it, it's now for sale! The latest version has 2 new fish, a tiger barb and a zebra danio, with more to come!

If you already have it installed, try the auto-updater. If you installed it more than a month ago, you might want to uninstall first, because i've changed installers. If you'd like a fresh download, go to

dreamaquarium.com/download

cheers,

alan

i should add that not only is it for sale it's ON SALE, because it's still in beta we're offering it for $16.95 including free updates throughout the 1.x series.

Oooo, Zebra Danios, I love em. Now you have both of my favorite fish (on the small end at least), Neon Tetras and Zebra Danios :D

Edit: Argh, only one Zebra Danio for the trial version? That sucks becuase theres not a chance in hell that I'm going to pay for a screensaver.

I haven't yet started on the OSX version, and it may be a while still. Sorry :( I want to come out with at least one new tank and a fiddler crab at the bottom that grabs at the fish! Then i will begin work on the OSX version, though it's being programmed so that it will be fairly portable.

He now has, and has for some some time, his own forum on the Dreamaquarium site, www.dreamaquarium.com, there have been continual FREE updates to this screensaver, also continual comunication with the purchasers of this screensaver to improve and give his customers what they want, I have never seen another software producer do this in such a way. Go on over to the forum and have a read through it, you will see the continuing work done in the past year.

As much as i like this screensaver (it looks amazing IMO), look at the date of the thread, the creator hasn't even been to the site since June.

Actually, i just noticed the spike of hits coming from neowin.net - i assumed this thread was dead. This thread is actually what kicked off Dream Aquarium and started the word spreading, and i'm thankful to everyone here for their support. It's doing fairly well considering it's only sold on-line and i'm planning to start work on the mac version in february, and after that i'll revisit/redevelop my fish behavior and kinematics code.

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
