oh ya, im using windows xp home edition

I think it's a problem with your hardware and some patch/hotfix/software Ap installs

Use Vmware to make tests

IP address (****) is currently downloading the fi...finish this download before starting another one.

No such trauma storing files either on

FileFactory.com

or

FileFront.com

:D

on the bug report side of things The version prior to DEC full replaces UDFS.sys with an SP2 version on my SP1 system causing frequent BSoD while trying to read CDR on an external USB DVD burner :(

i downloaded n installed da january update n once i restarted my system i couldnt load windows in normal mode  it usually loadz n logs me off 4 sum reason  all i can do iz use it thru safe mode :|

iz dere a way to get da setting back or maybe restore it??

Anyway for these to not be enabled by default in the next full version of APXP?

Update for DRM enabled players KB891122

Update for WDRM enabled Media Players KB902344

Updates for WMP 9 and 10 KB892313

Update to enable Direct X acceleration in WMP 9 and 10

Reason: I would rather install these after installing WMP10. Also some still show as needing installed if you do it all at once.

Security update for step-by-step interactive training application KB898458

Reason: Application isn't always installed on PC. Should be selectable but not by default.

MSN Messenger

Reason: User may not want MSN Messenger installed.

Request to be added as installable options:

System Tweaks - Unregester XP's built-in zipfile function.

Reason: It sucks. I always install 7zip or other archive application.

If I beg really hard, could we get a small tweak in there to freakin' disable sticky keys? I hate having to do it manually every time, and once AP runs, you can't disable it manually anymore. (Since the accessability.cpl is removed for some reason, you have to reinstall it to disable them.) It's a real pain.

(Not to mention having to manually re-load the Windows Audio panel thingie from the Windows disc. Why does that bugger off EVERY time I run AP on any of the systems I use it on?!)

Great 2 have all updates, well most of them, togheter. I do however have some issues with it. I just began using nLite to make my personalized XP and I'm using the updates from the AutoPatcher installation folder. The update folders are separated into critical/noncritical updates. Going great so far... I start nLite push a couple of buttons until I get to Hotfix integration, I'm pushing the browse button, going to the updates folders and then what do I see inside? 30+ other folders (mind you that this is only the critical update folder, If I also want to include noncritical updates it adds up to about 50+) which I have to browse for one folder at a time. Why can't updates be all in one (on secon thought make it 2 for critical/noncritical) folder? Another issue is that HighMAT, WMP updates and the Malicious Software Removal Tool are thrown inside the update folders, without a description of what they are (in the folder name at least). Aside from the WMP updates, which i still think should be all put in a separate folder, the other 2 really have nothing to do with windows update (useful as they may be). That being said, I think this is a great tool nevertheless...

I was interested in including some other programs in AutoPatcher on my own... some time ago. Now that I have discovered nLite (which is vastly superior to the others that i have seen) I'm more interested in making my own XP CD, with most of the tools I need to get my PC up and running.

I would very much apreciate a link to a forum where I can get more info about how i can integrate the latest Windows Media Player, JRE, WinRar, codec packs etc into an unnatende setup. I have found dozens of forums where the only thins they say is how to make an unnatended XP CD (by just modifying an answer file and such) and how to trim down a XP installation, but nothing more, not the things I am interested in. BTW, I do know that there are programs that cannot be intagrated into an unnatended XP installation (such as D-Tools), but anything that can be integrated will make my life a lot easier...

The files are split like that for a reason - AutoPatcher has been modular since we moved over to v5, and it's a VAST improvment over the previous versions.

Check out MSFN's Unattended guide, it should help alot: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/

K, 10x that's a great site...

Cool reference 2 Bills MICRO-things :p

    • +1 for Rufus. I bought NTLite a few years ago to scrape all the bloat out of Windows 11. It is not a perfect solution as there is a steep learning curve if you don't really know what you are doing (me included). I have finally got a Windows install that just works. I only keep things I use and nothing else.
    • Personally ive been using searxng, self hosted, although there are public instances out there too (https://searx.space).  Its shocking when I occasionally go into google or bing and see how bad they've become in the last year
