I am anxiously waiting on the next gen Mac Mini!

Sweet, I get to reply to myself again!

Just bought a new Mini last night.

woot woot

First time post in here, but theres a reason for that hehe - only ever bought one Mac.

Initially it was a Mac Mini Core Solo - the one and only!

Swapped out the Core Solo for a T7200 (2.0GHz) and gave it 2GB RAM, replacing 512MB.

Currently still going strong, has Leopard on it running fine. Talks to my Windows network fine, plays all my media fine - best HTPC you can get!

Can't believe I haven't noticed this thread until now, LOL! :D But anyway, here it goes:

Well I just got my first Mac. I've always been a PC user but with the recent advances in battery life plus the price reduction on their 13 Inch models got me switching over to MAC OS X.

I purchased the 13 inch MacBook Pro, 2.26 GHz; 4 GB Ram; 250 GB HD

So far, after playing with it for two days I can say that I am absolutely satisfied.

Yesterday I was measuring battery life, I had NeoOffice open, FireFox with 8 tabs, and running three ssh terminal sessions to some of the servers at work.

I tried to simulate a regular working condition and instead of working on my two desktops at work I did most of the work on my new MacBook. I got amazing 6:23 out of the battery :)

Since I tend to travel a lot Mobility and an extended battery life are a great plus for me.

Also I have to give Apple credit for the great case design. Is light and sturdy, and it looks great.

I also installed VirtualBox with Windows Vista Business 32bit, and it works great.

I needed the Windows Vista just in case I needed some of my work applications.

I was thinking of partitioning the drive and installing a separate partition of Vista, using boot camp, but I dont think I'll be using Vista that much and is just more convenient launching Vista out of my desktop without rebooting the system, just to access and app or two.

Cheers

    • It is such a shame. I used to really respect Neowin's articles.
    • So.... slower fixes and slower security updates are preferred? I mean, there is no goldilocks zone here until it can literally update without ever needing a restart, and even then I'm sure someone would complain.
