Here's my current shellstyle (based on Stolen VS):

shellstyle.png.xs.jpg

And as requested, this is my foobar config and the required plugins... It's just a mod of the one made by em3 so the instructions are the same...

m4.pui / default.pui

I'm using the latest version of PanelsUI and the window title didn't change when I loaded this config. To fix it I added the following in Preferences -> Panels UI -> User Globals:

$settitle([%artist% - ]['['%album%[ CD%discnumber%][ #%tracknumber%]']' ]%title%)

^Black didn't look as nice. And since there already is blue text in the theme, I thought it would look nice to use that for a active button as well. If I use black more the theme would look to plain and depressing. The checkmarks in the checkboxes etc. have to stand out more then text and such, just like the active button. If they are black they look disabled.

@Capric0rn: Very nice work, only one little thing: the entries in the context menu 'sent to' in Explorer are nearly unreadable.

edit: Attachments

I ported this Theme into WB5 and modied the Startmenu slightly and changed the highlighted text color which got rid of the invisible text. The shellex is a Vista shell that I'm experimenting with.

Like I said on Deviantart (I'm MystShadow20xx):

Nice theme, but the Shellstyles SHOULD be made for this. It may look better without them, but some people like the functionality of Shellstyles, like myself. Other than that bug, it's a very acceptable theme that I'd use for a long time.

Not to sound all arrogant and stuff but I'm seeing a TON of misuses of the term 'bug".

A bug is something in the skin that is either not functioning properly, causes something else to not function properly, or is an overall problem that the original themer did not intend. If the themer INTENDED to have something in the VS than it is a feature. Just because some people do not like that particular feature does not mean that the skin is broken or there is a bug.

I personally think that the buttons look fine as they are but the blue active button is really nice. I'm really not to fond of the black one. It's really nice looking but does look like it's inactive and if the skin has so much black than it really makes things boring.

Just my eight cents :)

There are many Shellstyles in other VS's matching LE Black. We should take LE Black as it is. Capric0rn did a great Job on this Theme and it's his Decision about the Shellstyle.

    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.171 changelog: General Fixed Cardano not being disabled on upgrade to Brave Origin. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103. Origin Removed “Survey Panelist” setting from brave://settings/privacy. Fixed P3A and usage ping under brave://settings/privacy being displayed on first launch on Linux. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
