Man Sues Apple Over iPod Hearing Loss

Recommended Posts

Wow

I looked at an iPod yesterday and the bright light reflected off it!!

It blinded me slightly for at least 2 seconds.

This is an OUTRAGE, I will be sueing apple tomorrow.

Seriously, I love having ringing ears after a 10 Min bus journey! :D

Here, I'll say what all of you outside of America want to say, but know you'll get flamed if you do.

Only in America.

Yeah, American iPods don't have the volume limiting, but how much thought does it take to realize that blasting it so loud that it actually hurts and you have trouble hearing for a while after listening is bad. Everyone is taught from the day they are born that very loud noise is bad for your ears. This guy's a moron, and only here could he get away with suing them (and he'll probably win unless they have strict documentation somewhere in the box).

The warning is not sufficient and too many people listen to it too loud. The iPod craze, as well as other portable media players with those earbuds, have caused a significant increase in hearing loss.

How can you justify that idiocy? You must be among the people who demand warnings on plastic bags that read to the effect of 'Don't swallow... covering head my cause suffocation."

Next warning you and your kind will be demand will be for hammers. "Warning, hammers can cause damage to surroundings and body by blunt force impact." but, then, the language has to be simplified.

If the volume is too loud, turn it down! Is it so hard? "Oooh, my ears hurt... maybe I should reduce the volume." Do your kind go to Stone's concerts and demand they lower the volume of the speakers? Or go to clubs and tell them to keep it down?

Warning: Not breathing will cause death.

Warning: Sticking hand in fire will burn.

Warning: Injesting currency can be harmful.

Warning: Drinking pen ink can be fatal.

Warning: Scissors cut.

Warning: Knives do too.

Warning: Life is fatal.

Hey, I didn't get that warning about life being fatal... I'm going to die, just because I'm alive? Somebody's gonna pay!

God damn it, this stuff ****es me off. And people who support the idiocy of others **** me off further.

Just like the lady who burned herself by putting hot coffee in her lap... and she won, which proves the utter idiocy of an entire nation and a huge portion of the human race.

people in that country can sue almost anything. im amaze. no offence.

It doesn't offend me. Actually, law suits like this are allowed because it generates revenue for court systems. It's not dumb that this person is suing Apple, it's retarded that the legal system here is allowing it to happen.

I think this country could take a few hints from others and not allow such stupid s**t in the first place.

Indeed any portable music player has the words like" Don't adjust the volume too high, which will probably cause hearing loss" in the instruction book.

so this sue case is quite ridiculous, but I can understand this poor man.

Hey, I didn't get that warning about life being fatal... I'm going to die, just because I'm alive? Somebody's gonna pay!

:o You mean people die? OMFG I WANT MY MONEY BACK! /me sues God

At the end of the day its down to goddamn common sense which is invariably what these law suits come down to, and usually something that the people making the case just don't have.

Why should companies be responsible for telling us EVERYTHING? I like to be left to make my own opinions on what is dangers and what isn't. Apple say in the instructions that listening to it too loud will eventually damage my hearing.. thats enough for me! I don't need it spelled out in huge great letters across the front of the box or something!

Arrrghhh.. law suits and dumb people.. its enough to make a grown man cry!

    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
