Some new features include

Opera Widgets ? Widgets are small AJAX applications that provide specific functionality ? like getting your favorite news, converting currency and so on. Now you have an ad blocker in opera :woot:

just added http://ad.* which is used on one of my favorite sites and it colapses and never downloads the ads... Yiehaaaaaa, first step to overwin the Firefox people has been taken. Adblock is finally in Opera!!!

Is it in Opera as easy as in FF and TB to backup your settings/mail (by backing up the profile folder)? And how good is Opera's mail feature compared to TB?

Opera just gets better and better with each release! All these features packed into such a small download, and even when installed and with many tabs open it still manages to keep a nice memory footprint.

Great job opera! Everyone should download and at least try it, it really does include all the great Necessities needed for a great browsing experience. :)

The "Content Blocker" is just a frontend for the old "Url Filter" method, but it's nicely executed.

im an ie user all the way with no intentions of switching. but sometimes i run opera in linux and i find it a really good browser. definitly better then firefox.

Great update. The adblocking works very well.

Yet to test the torrents, but the widget support is ok if you don't want to install another engine.

I would install it to c:\Program Files\Opera9

That way you can keep your old version intact while playing with this version. Don't think it's recomended at all to upgrade over the old one, so you better make a fresh install of version 9.

Probably yes... But personally I wouldn't take the chance in case something happens. I would back up the old one, possibly just renaming the old opera9 folder and make a fresh install, then move stuff over that i want to keep either by directly copying them or using the export/import features.

Personally i also dont see the point of widgets, in general. It just takes up to much of the screen. I cant get my head around why someone would want a huge digital clock or calculator on their screen?! :s

Yes you can.... Right click choose customize... Enable "Main bar", remove all buttons from it (right click, remove), then move all the buttons, including the address bar, google bar, by dragging it to the empty "Main bar", after you're done you can disable the address bar... Viola, you have the tab bar in the bottom :)
