Damn Another Ticket

You guys have to remember that speed limits are just suggestions for the average driver with the average vehicle.

An old truck driving at 60km/h is still going to take longer to stop and won't be able to maneuver as well in case of an emergency than, say, a new BMW at 80km/h. Even if the BMW is being driven faster it still remains safer, its just a matter of knowing the limits of the car and the conditions of the road; a little safety-conscious speeding won't hurt anyone.

In any case, I wouldn't trust this guy in a Hyundai to drive that much faster than traffic in a safe manner. :p

Keep in mind my car has upgraded suspesnion. It is nothing like a bmw or anything, but its way better than my Old 2002 ford escort and a stock accent.

And these guys fail to see IT WAS THE ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY!!!! ITS ONE LANE!

I have no IDEA how you got your licence in the first place.. I think that people who get caught for speeding should get their licence suspended for 6 months MINIMUM.. then after that a permanent ban on driving because it IS speed that kills and if you dont slow down eventually YOU will kill someone or yourself... and dont say "uh no, speed doesnt kill, its the slower more attentive drivers who are obeying the law who get killed" yeah, they get killed by stupid people like you who think its cool to drive faster than the law permits........ you know, im really baffeled at how you passed your licence exam

My driving instructor at the school in high school told me to speed up when I was going the speed limit. Also the DMV driver said I was even going to slow going 50 in a 45.

I actually have to disagree with that; speed limits are law enforced and as such are not suggestions rather than set rules that are to be followed, no matter what you drive.

My dad and I get tickets constantly because we drive faster than the speed limit on a daily basis, yet we do so consciously and safely. Speed limits are suggestions from a safety point of view, from a law enforcement point of view just be prepared to pay the fines.

How many tickets do the both of you have?

I just got a speeding ticket too...

*89 in a 55 = $260

*No seatbelt = $70

How much did your insurance go up?

No lawyer?

stop ur speeding or get off the dang road, there's no need for racers or speeder w/e u wanna call ur self. You will just end up getting someone killed or even ur self killed.Cards are ment to get u from point A to B, if u want to race find a racetrack ment for racing not your city streets

I feel bad... musta taken you like an hour to get up to 80mph then that trooper had to pull you over and spoil your fun!

Oh and please don't say you were racing your hyundai. What ever happened to the days when street racing was underground and people actually used really fast cars to do it? I can't wait for it to be back that way someday, but by then I'll probably be driving a suburban with my kids. If you really want to race and drive fast, then might I consider autocross or a drag strip? Or maybe leave your house a little earlier when going somewhere?

Your car is not a fast car no matter how you look at it, so don't drive it that way. How do I know? Well, my friend has one and he brought it to the track and I had my sister bring my astrovan so I could strip my car at the track and put the parts in there. For ****s and giggles, I used my last run to race the astro van against my friend's accent in a heads up run... took it by about 2 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. Your car is not built for this stuff though and driving it as such is just going to lead to someone getting hurt, ok? If you really want to release this need for speed that you have then go do it somewhere off public roads. Unless everyone on the road is doing 80, then doing 80 yourself is NOT safe and a cop will not single you out for driving above the speed limit if traffic is moving at the same pace.

Folks, I know plenty of people in law enforcement, including state troopers. The only reason speed laws exist is purely to generate profit. Almost every accident is due to exhaustion of some sort (the major cause of exhaustion being alcohol). There is not much difference is being in an accident at 55 MPH or 95 MPH, you will get equally ****ed up or possibly dead. You can be going 25 MPH and if you get hit the wrong way, you'll break your neck and die. Speeding tickets are purely to generate profits, and yes, all cops are told exactly how many speeding tickets they need to write per month, because the budget is calculated with those speeding tickets in mind. My advice is to become friends with a cop, and get a PBA or FOP card. You will never have to worry about a speeding ticket ever again.

God bless you.

What are these cards you speak of.

Here it is. Ohh no here comes the hate.

Give me a secound while you rag my car to

Eiy yi yi. You fail to see my point. You can't go driving your car at speeds like that because it is not built for that. I used my track experience as an example. It's something I'm getting sick of though... people thinking that honda civics and stuff like that are race cars. Well, they aren't. It's people's inability to see that these cars are not designed for racing that often gets them killed. How often do you see someone who crashed their porsche in the newspaper? Now how many times do you see a flipped over honda with a big exhaust sticking off it in the newspaper. I don't want to insult you or rag on your whip... I want you to wake up and realize that if you're going to drive like that in a car that's not designed for it, you're going to end up with more to deal with than a ticket.

In our newspaper the usuall cause is usually one of the three

1. cell phone

2. Alochol

3. going the wrong way on the interstate

PBA - Police Benevolent Association or FOP - Fraternal Order of Police. Basically, police officers are part of one of these two organizations. They can issue cards to friends and family. Basically the card says "A cop vouches for me".

Of course, this won't work for serious violations (running a red light, accidents, etc...) but doing 80 with every other car on the road in a 55 and getting snared by an obvious speed trap? They won't bug you.

Do you have one?

Ok Is this just a rumor. If you mail in your fines for the court, and you write it for 5 dollars over. They issue a check back to you for a refund. I hear if you dont cash this refund you wont be fined. Any truth to this?

Meh, and guess what... all of those people thought that they were driving at their best and didn't think they were going to get into an accident. Guess what happened!

I've always remembered that speed limits were lowered to increase gas mileage, people were driving too fast and burning too much fuel, so they lowered them...

i can't remember 100% if that is correct... but it wasn't for safety...

and i agree with the other poster, about speed tickets are just for increase money to the state, if they were serious about making people drive slower, they wouldn't hide... they would make it very obvious where they were, so people would drive slower...

My driving instructor at the school in high school told me to speed up when I was going the speed limit. Also the DMV driver said I was even going to slow going 50 in a 45.

ok so, what your driving instructor in high school did... was ILLEGAL and should have lost his job.. DMV driver... also illegal... they are not allowed to tell you to do anything illegal or else they could lose their job... so hence they are stupid along with yourself

Let's say for the sake of argument that your reaction time is 0.75 seconds, and that your car can brake at a constant rate of 6.5 m/s

You're travelling at 50 mph (22 m/s)

Thinking distance = speed x reaction time, so that's 17m.

Breaking distance = (22^2)/(2*6.5) = 37m.

Total = 54m.

80 mph (36 m/s)

Thinking distance = 27m

Breaking distance = 100m.

Total = 127m.

Can you see why speed limits are introduced now? The distance increases by the square of the speed you're increasing by.

Slow down. And while you're at it stop wasting money in making the Hyundai Accent something it's not. It's not a sports car. It's a frickin budget vehicle. I'm so tired of seeing 10s of thousands of enhancements put on peice of junk cars. Why don't people just buy good cars from the factory to begin with. Around here we have 80s Cutlass's that are falling apart probably worth 800 bucks that have a crazy paint job on it and 26 inch rims that are worth thousands of dollars and light kits and all of this nonsense. Not to mention the stereo system can be heard from 4 blocks away and is probably another couple grand. It's a frickin Cutlass for christ sakes.

theres really no point to this topic. i suppose he wanted to share his experience, which he is allowed to do, but frankly the rest of us could care less.

dustin, people are just giving u advice. no one can make you stop your actions except yourself.

so do what you want to yourself, you are correct in saying that its your life, but be sure to take other people into consideration.

btw, your car sux.

if you are interested in further increasing performance, i recommend upping to a high performance air filter if u dont have one yet.

I'll upload pictures of my custom intake on here problley sometime in the next week. I installed a new one today, and I'm getting a little thumping noise that I can feel in the clutch. I think my filter is a bit too tall for the hood. I'll need to extend then nose down the intake a bit more.

If someone cuts you off, your going to hit them if your going 25 or 55.

1. Has anyone broken a law.

2. Has that law IN any way in-dangared someone. (Yes buying drugs can put someone in danger)

3. For any law you have broken there is someone else out there like 1/3 of you that thinks your extremly wrong for doing it, without you caring.

You have a point. I'm not telling every single person in here to go speed.

I've always remembered that speed limits were lowered to increase gas mileage, people were driving too fast and burning too much fuel, so they lowered them...

Most of the cops, like the rush of hiding then pulling someone over. Its a money thing.

Slow down. And while you're at it stop wasting money in making the Hyundai Accent something it's not. It's not a sports car. It's a frickin budget vehicle. Its only personal enjoyment, do what makes you happy.

Why are you racing in an accent? Pretty dumb.

110 HP? Wow... and no... thats not really impressive for 2200lbs... plus what a waste of money on performance mods. Why buy a budget car and put tons of money into it?

How about you drive like every normal person and obey the law. There is no reason to go 80+ in a 55. If you want to show off... go on a track... because most of the people your speeding by on the highway are probably rolling their eyes at you.

i can't remember 100% if that is correct... but it wasn't for safety...

Maybe not... but countless studies indicate speed ends up causing problems due to inexperince and reckless driving.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
    • Turbo Pascal was my first real programming experience more than 30 years ago at university. I mostly taught myself from the included examples and help documentation, because the university only taught the basic syntax and philosophy of Pascal, without going deeply into Turbo Pascal’s advanced features. I still remember when I discovered that I could embed assembly language directly into Pascal code, call BIOS functions, manipulate screen memory, use mouse interrupts, and control peripherals from my programs. That opened huge doors for me. Programming back then felt really fun, direct, and close to the machine. What I loved about Pascal was its readability and the almost instant compile time. Turbo Pascal was an amazing environment, but unfortunately Turbo Pascal for Windows 3 did not feel like it fully carried that legacy forward. Later, Delphi got things back on the right track after the messy transition to TP for Windows. Sadly, Delphi suffered from years of uncertainty as it moved from Borland to CodeGear and then to Embarcadero. That instability made many developers lose confidence in it, even though Delphi itself remained a powerful and productive tool. I still work with Delphi from time to time, but I definitely miss the old days of Turbo Pascal.
