Far Cry IP demo arrives on XBL

Demo of Ubisoft's shooter slinks onto Xbox Live five months after its release; multiplayer sample weighs in at 344MB.

Though most predators have to be hot on the tail or even one step ahead of their prey, one certain Predator is making its move a bit tardy. The demo for Ubisoft's Far Cry Instincts Predator for the Xbox 360 was released today, more than five months after the retail game was released.

The 344MB download gives potential buyers a taste of the game's multiplayer mode, which supports fragging action between 16 players. There are five game modes to play, including steal the sample, seek and secure, predator, chaos, and team chaos.

Though many may dismiss the demo as being late, Ubisoft is likely pushing the game's recent price drop. Far Cry Instincts Predator is rated M for Mature and now retails for $39.99. For more information, read GameSpot's review.

Hmm...I'll try the FarCry demo. I'm a little burned-out on FPSs and this isn't a new title, but I just want to see how it's like.

Trong: If postage was free I would send you my copy of F.E.A.R. - I haven't played it since the day it came in the mail, heh. Honestly, I actually forgot about it until you mentioned it. Take note that it's not that it is a bad port, it's just that I'm not very interested in getting into more FPSs right now. I should probably give it another, more serious chance before we get onslaught with new games this fall, but I'm think I'm going to be overwhelmed (not that I mind :)).

I actually loved farcry. Team Chaos mostly when you dont have the host making all the armor and everything full. Because then you just run out of ammo and it gets boring. 8 players max would be good.

Far Cry original is coming to the 360 and PS3, I've seen some screens, just looks like PC version

OMG!!! :omg:

I just d/l the new PGR deck for UNO (100 MSP) and it's lots of fun!

the soundtrack (kind of techno/house) is just right for the ambient, the background display images from the cities in PGR3 and change from time to time, the cards have images from the cars in PGR3 and have a little animation in one of their corners and when you play them they sound like a car accelerating but the coolest thing is the addition of a new command card called Gotham TV (50 points) which allows to view a player's hand and then you can use it as a wild card! :woot:

it just feels like a different game and the music helps a lot to get you in the mood for a long night of UNO on XBL...

NHL 07 Demo is Live, Sort of

Sorry hockey fans. Shootout only.

by Jonathan Miller

September 7, 2006 - The NHL 07 demo is live on Xbox Live Marketplace. But let's define "demo" for a moment.

If by demo you mean an abbreviated version of the full retail game that gives you an accurate idea of how the final game will play, then you'll be disappointed with this NHL 07 demo.

Sure, the Shootout mode is slick and a great way to learn EA's new Skill Stick control scheme, which is as fun as we've ever played in a hockey game. But we were hoping for at least a quarter of gameplay with at least two playable teams. We buy hockey games for hockey, not shootouts. This is like releasing a demo of Madden where all you do is kick field goals.

That said, the demo does let you take control of either Edmonton or Carolina and play through a fun and intense gamemode. It's just over way too quickly. And in the few times we played through the shootout, the demo locked up and froze, no pun. When it comes to free demos, we are hoping for a lot more from EA in the future.

The demo is available now and free to download on the Marketplace. NHL 07 hits retail shelves on September 12.

    • First time clicking on a Sayan Sen article after he started making clickbait, vague headlines recently. Didn't read, just came here to say the headline doesn't look like very cheap, vague clickbait this time. Are you okay?
    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).

Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more.
