Nothing against b0se, that's GREAT you actually have a life and other things to take care of BUT I think it was the worst idea to post an unfinished visual style and get all the hype built up KNOWING it wasn't going to get finished anytime in the near future. All it did was get people ****ed off, dissapointed, bored with the visual style before it was ever completed, and start rips floating around (no I'm not attacking srn).

I mix of responses and emotions in this thread. kvaughan, use your head before posting. Would you rather:

A. Be able to use a 90% finished theme

or

B. Not have it at all

In most cases, I'm sure you'll find the answer is A.

I made it completely clear that I worked hard and fast on the beta so people could use it. The fact that I couldn't finish it does NOT give anyone the right to moan or rip work.

I have no time to theme right now (and I'm getting fed up having to explain this OVER and over again), I'm working on two work projects in my 'free' time, which isn't much time at all when you work (including travel) from 7am - 7pm. So, get angry, get frustrated and flame here - it won't help anything, or anyone.

As it happens, I might have some time to work on it this weekend, we will see. Default GUI.Air is now finished, so now I'm going to add some colours. The first two will be green (olive) and black, then there will be a delay before other colours are added. Release 1 will be out when green and black are finished. i will add more colours and release when time permits.

For those offering patience and support - thanks :?)

Exactly what I'm using here (after being on GUI.Air for months), and thats why I decided to add Olive instead of Orange, it's more useable (Y)

While I agree that the flaming is truly out of control regarding themes on this board, I would rather have a finished theme than one that I have to work on myself to get it to a useable state. I appreciate that everyone who spends their spare time doing something for free for this and other communities should be applauded, but those same people should also be aware that the community does not like being teased with a VS that is 90% finished. I actually think it is closer to 60% or 70% myself but that I suppose that is subjective. Be that as it may, I think the mods should step in and not allow mindless comments and trolling to occur on this forum and be a little more hardcore about things like this. Otherwise, Neowin will continue to lose the support of some of the artists who have made this a great place to get visual styles and other releases.

Hey [email protected] you choose your name because thats what women call you in bed?

To the people who are being idiots, would you rather have some thing now which is incomplete...buggy...or a finished product where things work?

Opus was great VS and still is and he spent a while on that to make sure it worked well. So just be patient. He could be charging for his work but he is not. He is using HIS OWN free time to create VS for people.

I've been waiting for the orange style since the wip screenshot. Oh well patience is a virtue I suppose.

Someone recolored the VS a while back earlier in this tread. May want to view the older pages....

    • Alpine Linux 3.24 released with support for COSMIC Desktop and other improvements by David Uzondu Alpine Linux 3.24 has been released with updated system packages, including Linux kernel 6.18 and Rust 1.96. The team also added IPv6 support to the system installer, and they introduced automatic serial console configuration for headless setups. System76's COSMIC desktop environment is now available in the community repo. System76 originally started building this DE because its developers found GNOME to be pretty limited. Plus, it did not help that with virtually every GNOME update, the changes broke System76's custom desktop extensions. As for system packages, the Alpine team moved GTK+ 3.0 from the main repository to the community repository due to its legacy status. py3-setuptools has been upgraded to version 82.0.0, while the old pkg_resources module has been completely dropped. The team also removed outdated packages that still relied on py3-six and GTK+ 2.0. In addition to that, libsoup 2 has been removed because the library was affected by multiple security vulnerabilities. If you're a GRUB user, the Alpine Team said that you must manually run the grub-install command with your specific device or EFI options right after upgrading your system, otherwise, your computer may fail to boot properly with the newly updated GRUB 2.14 bootloader. New installations of Alpine Linux now offer an optional path to a /usr-merged directory layout if you set the BOOTSTRAP_USR_MERGED environment variable to 1 before you execute the setup-disk command. If you already run an older installation, you can migrate manually by installing the merge-usr package and executing its binary as the root user. The team recommends this layout to align Alpine with modern Linux standards, though you should verify your custom scripts before making the switch. Alpine Linux is a pretty tiny (~5MB) Linux distro built around musl libc, BusyBox, and OpenRC. It's been around since 2005, comes with its own package manager called Alpine Package Keeper (APK), and is widely used in modern cloud computing and software deployment.
