4 or 5 hours a sleep a night

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if 4-5 hours a sleep a night is bad for me. Recently, every night I'd get around 4-5 hours of sleep. I'm really busy with everything so I don't get the time to sleep early. I do get tired late in the night but during the day I'm not really tired.

Yes, it is bad for you. Your body needs at least 8 hours to regen. Those mighty mitochondria need rest to produce the energy you are going to expend. I used to go on 2-3 hours a night but I was working out 6 days a week and had a steady schedule. On the topic of working out... If you are weight training you need 9-10 hours to repair what you break down. Get off Neowin and go to sleep.

How old are you? Just for your information, if you are between the age of 14 to 20. you need at least 9 and a half hour of sleep to be healthy.

Its important to get "RAM" Sleep, and only 9 and a half hour (or more) provide enough time for RAM sleep to be effective and helpful...

Ever since I was 24 I am unable to sleep more then 6hrs a night (usually 5-6). My father and grandmother were the same way. I have talked to my Dr. about it and he said if I don't feel tired after 6 hrs then don't worry about it. Everyones body needs different amounts of sleep. I do agree the younger you are the more you need but as you get older your body will tell you what you need.

Going to be 20 in May.

I thourt it was "REM" sleep?

you are correct. Random Eye Movement, sleep. REM.

It would be good for you to get 8 hours. 4 to 5 is not that great for you. REM Sleep takes ~3 hours to get into sometimes, so you basically arnt getting it much at all. Which is the true deep sleep that you need.

I thourt it was "REM" sleep?

Yeah he's thinking computer RAM. Its REM like the band. :)

Actually, if you learn to really medidate you can probably get away with 4 to 6 hours, those people are actually able to trigger the REM sleep much easier than anyone.

Get a least 6 though. You won't pay in the immediate future. Do it for a week or so (4 or 5 hours) and you might be okay. If you do it for a couple of weeks, put those other things on hold and get sleep. You'll get your body really sick if you don't.

Bad for you, on average a human should get 8 - 10 hours of sleep. Ideally, your body should wake up by itself but that's basically impossible. If you get in the habit, your body will probably not wake up after the "correct" amount of sleep time. You gotta force yourself until you are back on track ;) The sleep you lose you can never gain back.

I only sleep 4 or 5 hours myself. I really can't sleep anymore than that. No matter if I'm tired or not.

If I fall asleep early, I just automatically wake up after no more than 6 hours max.

I feel tired sometimes, but there's nothing I can do, outside of seeing a psychiatrist, or killing all the stupid people.

I'd have to agree with you on this. I haven't slept more than 3 hours a day since I was 17. I'm nearly 28 now. I think it's just what your body gets accustomed to. The doc says it's ok so why not.

I just can't seem to "switch off" sometimes.

Even when I go to bed, theres so much stuff going through my head it just overrides how tired I am.

Sucks :(

Just to let you know, you are definitely not alone with this feeling of not being able to "switch off."

I am the same exact way, so many thoughts at once go through my head at night and I just cannot sleep because of it.

I am now 31 years old, and it has been this way my entire life, and it only seems to get worse unfortunately.

What i find helps is if I start to "tune out" at least an hour before I go to bed, if not more time if possible.

What I mean by "tune out" is not playing any video games and or/not doing anything at all on my computer, and although it is really hard to do this, the nights I do seem to "tune out" definitely seem to be better than the other nights.

I honestly may go see what is going on soon. I keep seeing this one commercial on TV for some drug for people with restless minds at night, and I really do not want to go that route, but obviously it is an issue for other people as well, so I might look into seeing what other advice and alternatives there may be.

For now, I just to my best not to do anything before bed that will get my thinking. My problem is I am a designer/fine artist and I am always analyzing everything, so I just think it has to do with who I am as well.

8 hours is ideal for sure, at least for me.

Honestly though, I am usually tired no matter how much sleep I get, so I think it all depends on the person.

I TRY so hard to get a lot of sleep, i can tell when my body is tired, it sucks. I work 5 days a week, 40+ hours, wake up every morning at 5:30, work from 7-2, come home play with kids, clean up, take wifes sister to work, do errands, wait till 11 or 12 to pick wifes sister up, come home shower ... sleep, and start over again.

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
