White PS3 Slim looks great, they should release one without any artwork on it next year. And branded consoles are certainly not new to this decade.

As for M-Create VS Famitsu, if you want I can post both then from now on so everyone's happy.

Famitsu: September 21 - 27

DSi - 66,000

PS3 - 50,000

PSP - 20,000

Wii - 13,000

PS2 - 3,500

Damn that's a bit poor for the Wii on a price cut, that thing really is drying up in Japan.

Everyone already have a Wii ;) They'll need to release a special edition (maybe something like a Super Mario Bros wii edition) Wii to get people to buy a second one :p

A price cut alone can't sell a system. The Wii's problem is that it's got too few games really. The only ones that work well with the WiiMote is WiiSports, and lets face it, you'll get tired of jumping around and playing tennis at some point.

Nintendo is once again getting hit with the lack of solid 3rd party support, and it's 1st party games are pretty much Pokemon at this point. the DS is still going strong because it's got more games going for it, that's just how it goes.

Nintendo always neglects 3rd party, and the biggest issue with the Wii is because it's not on a level enough par with the 360/PS3 devs can't port down to it, they need to make uniquely for it. Which means to prevent risk a boat load of clones and games in the vein of Wii Sports, whilst a lack of more depth orientated games the other consoles see.

I think as generations go on and we adopt the multiplatform approach, which is best for the industry, the hardware manufacturers need to make sure there is enough level ground between themselves not to alienate devs. Level ground doesn't = releasing a clone of each other, just enough similarities to make porting possible.

As strong as Nintendos 1st party is, it would really be nice for once to see 3rd parties more on board with the brand.

It was their choice to spend more on the wiiMote tech and just do a minor "upgrade" to the GameCube specs and give us the Wii. In the end they didn't want to end up with massive R&D costs like Sony and co. Makes sense if you just got your butt smacked around with the N64 and the Gamecube. They didn't wanna risk it. And it did pay off, being able to sell the hardware for a profit from the start is a first as far as game consoles go. Well, using the current model that is.

The N64 and Gamecube were profitable from the get go.

That seems like a shock to me seeing how they didn't have sales figures to turn much of a profit. Regardless, they got slapped around by Sony.

The manufacturing costs of the Gamecube/N64 were obviously at such a level selling around 30~ million (n64) and 20~ million (gamecube) was fine for the company. Even the years the consoles were released were profitable.

Marketshare has meant more for Sony/MS over the last decade or so because without marketshare on a high financial risk piece of hardware, you're going to blow a ton of money as your low install base can't fund you enough. Marketshare = higher levels of software sales which ultimately keep your ship sailing until hardware starts generating good returns, which for cutting edge technology usually takes a few years.

Yeah fine the PS1/2 vastly outsold the N64/Gamecube, but it didn't really hurt the Nintendo business plan that much, did it? More so hurt consumers with low 3rd party software support and a short console life cycle.

So while Nintendo walk away in profit, they obviously still don't like the fact their consoles bombed out so quickly (and left buyers frustrated), hence the Wii going a different route, still aiming for high profitability, but not just creating a "Gamecube 2" (no pun intended) on the gaming plan side of things.

Don't forget they also had the GB/GBA, Pokemon sure helped sell them ;)

I guess we can expect big FF13 software numbers!

Final Fantasy XIII Imports "The Best this Generation"

Import Preorders for Final Fantasy XIII are "the best this generation" according to an employee of Import specialists Play-Asia speaking to UFFSite.

The employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told us that Final Fantasy XIII has "far outdone the other big Japanese releases this year."

"We saw a lot of imports for Bayonetta too - especially after Famitsu's score - but over the last few weeks FF13 has gone on to outdo that significantly."

Bayonetta is out in less than a month, which goes a long way to explain why less people would preorder that - but our source goes on to insist that FF13 has outdone every other title since the release of the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Japanese release is region free, making it easy for Western players to play.

Final Fantasy XIII is out in Japan in around two weeks and is out in the West in March. If the waiting for you is too much you can add to FF13's Import success by putting down an Import Preorder.

Stick with us at UFFSite for our import review of FF13 - but in the meantime, why not check out our FF13 Product Guide and sign up to our RSS Feed and Twitter for the latest FF news!

    • Glow 26.10 by Razvan Serea Glow provides detailed reporting on every hardware component in your computer, saving you valuable time typically spent searching for CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, and other stats. With Glow, all the information is conveniently presented in one clean interface, allowing you to easily access and review the comprehensive hardware details of your system. Glow provides detailed information on various system aspects, including OS, motherboard, processor, memory, graphics card, storage, network, battery, drivers, and services. The well-organized format ensures easy access to the required information. You can export all the gathered data to a plain text file, facilitating sharing with others for troubleshooting purposes. No installation needed. Just decompress the archive, launch the executable, and access computer-related information. Glow runs on Windows 11 and Windows 10 64-bit versions. Glow 26.10 changelog: New Features The bootstrapping algorithm has been completely redesigned. The software can now launch directly without requiring TS Preloader. As part of this change, the startup splash screen displayed during initialization has been removed. In addition, spikes in CPU usage have been eliminated, resulting in a more stable architecture with significantly lower memory consumption. The Microsoft Office detection infrastructure within the Operating System section has been enhanced. Additional detection support has been added for Office C2R (Click-to-Run) installations. Furthermore, the license status evaluation system has been improved, and the priority order has been revised as follows: Licensed > Grace Period > Other (NOTIFICATIONS, EVALUATION, etc.). Glow now includes preliminary support for Wi-Fi 8 technology, allowing more detailed information to be displayed for Wi-Fi 8-compatible network adapters. Glow now provides full support for Bluetooth 6.2. Adapters supporting Bluetooth 6.2 can be analyzed in greater detail and with improved accuracy. The disk distribution view in the Disk section has been modernized, replacing the traditional table layout with a new 2×2 card-based design. The TS Custom Controls module has been updated to v26.7. Thanks to the new custom controls, all Türkaysoft applications now offer a more modern and consistent user interface aligned with Windows 11 design standards. Bug Fixes Potential line-ending handling issues in the Office detection code within the Operating System section have been resolved. Additionally, the output format has been standardized to UTF-8 to prevent character encoding issues and ensure consistent data processing. Several stability and file management issues within the Debugging infrastructure have been addressed. Problems that prevented new log files from being created after Debugging was disabled, as well as issues causing debug records to be lost, have been fixed. File deletion and reaccess issues that occurred after file locks were released have also been resolved. In addition, a bug that caused newly recreated log files to remain locked after deletion has been eliminated. Unnecessary blank lines within debug logs and the extra empty line that could appear at the end of log files have also been corrected. A shortcut key conflict caused by assigning identical hotkeys to both the DNS Test Tool and the Donation page has been fixed. The DNS Test Tool can now be accessed using CTRL + Shift + D, while the Donation page is available via CTRL + Alt + D. Changes The service responsible for providing the Public IP Address and Internet Service Provider information in the Network section has been updated to use the ipinfo.io infrastructure. This change improves the accuracy and consistency of the displayed data. (No external requests are made while Hiding Mode is enabled.) Some terms in the Dutch and Korean language files have been updated to make them clearer and more user-friendly. [TS Updater] Before the update process begins, users are now prompted to choose whether they would like to view the release notes. Note: Always unzip the program before using it. Otherwise you may get an error. Download: Glow 26.10 | 1.8 MB (Open Source) Links: Glow Homepage | Screenshot | Github Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
