Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 28, 2006 Veteran Share Posted March 28, 2006 China's AIDS vaccine tested well in clinic trial www.chinanews.cn 2006-03-28 17:17:12 Chinanews, Mar.28 ? The AIDS vaccine produced by China has almost completed its first stage of clinical trial. Deputy Director from the Disease Control and Prevention Center of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Chen Jie said recently that everything was going well for the vaccinated volunteers. The first stage of clinical trial last for 14 months and those who received the vaccination were low-risk group between the age of 18-50. If the research can move to its second stage successfully, researchers will try to recruit volunteers from a larger variety of groups, especially the high risk group, to test the vaccine's immunogenicity and raise its safety. http://www.chinanews.cn//news/2005/2006-03-28/20877.html

Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 28, 2006 Author Veteran Share Posted March 28, 2006 they were gonna die anyway so who cares  It's a vaccine not a cure so thus it was given to volunteers that did not have HIV/AIDS.

LRoling
So, if they give it to volunteers who don't have AIDs, then they are basically testing its side effects. Because I would assume they aren't going to then inject HIV into a person, but hey, China does some screwed up things in their prisons.

They give the first clinic trial to a low-risk group. Their next clinical trial will be given to a high-risk group to see if it actually prevents HIV infection. Shibby
Basicly all drug trials first start out on animals then go to low risk people then start to work the way up to high risk.
