But I do know about politics, sorta. It is very much possible that a large company might stiffle a new discovery because of the impact it might have on the population. Besides which as the article points out, genuine discoveries are usually subject to the scrutiny of other scientists, which is how almost all scientific and technological discoveries are validated.
