[Release] Winamp CD Case RC 3

Recommended Posts

Carlos, I was searching for a cover (sometimes it takes a little while). The song ended and the next one started playing. Then I selected a cover to download, and it was shown for the next song, which was wrong. But the cover was saved under the right name (I think).

Could you make WCC not show the cover if the song was already over?

CD Art Display (*) RC3 Build 37 (08 Apr 2006)

(*) That's the possible new WCC's name; so in the future we'll have CAD for Winamp, for AlbumPlayer, for iTunes... The name transition will be probably done in RC4 officially.

What's new?

- "Control Panel" instead "Skin Manager", "Options" and "About" dialog windows.

Please test this new build and give your feedback even if everything is fine. Nothing was changed. Just reunited. But bugs may appear though. Thanks!

Thanks for the update. Only problem I have with the name is that CAD = CTRL ALT DEL for me (being a fan of the comic series).

Other then that I'll update later today and test this out. Great program again. I'm having small "bugs" in my current version but I think it has to do with the order of where it looks for the covers (which I'm too lazy to change).

CAD (WCC) RC3 Build 64 (09 Apr 2006)

- Improved toggle on top (hotkey) feature: now it toggles even when pinned to desktop

- Moved "Lock position" from "Options" to context menu (on the fly change*)

- Moved "Window level" from "Options" to context menu (on the fly change*)

- Moved "Magnetic borders" from "Options" to context menu (on the fly change*)

- Internal changes due new name

- Winamp plugin updated due new name (see Readme.txt inside the zip!)

* No need to reload the entire program

See Readme.txt inside the zip for installation tips

What do you think CD Art Display should be called? Carlos will decide by the time it's final. I think we should give him some ideas. I suggested these two names to him already:

  • Desktop CD Case
  • WAPiT CD Case (Winamp/Album Player/iTunes)

Either vote for one of these or think of your own.

I really like the new name... WAPiT is bull, lol... And I think it's smart to move away from the "Case" name, because it's not a good idea to name a program with these skinning capabilities after just one skin, "Case".

CAD - CD Art Display seems fresh and it makes sense too. I like it.

About the options dialog, it's nice to see everything integrated into one window, but the buttons at the top that work as tabs, are a terrorist attack to the Windows forms convention. "Buttons are buttons, and tabs are tabs. Thou shalt not have buttons that work as tabs."

Edit:

I did my own design of the CAD Control Panel, and I've showed it to Carlos already, but I want to see what other CAD users think of it, and maybe get their feedback on the new control panel Carlos designed too. Here are some screenshots of my mock design:

interface9tr.th.png download9zj.th.png show1zp.th.png player9yb.th.png

And the skin editor would be in a separate window. You don't want to see all those options every time you go to the Control Panel.

I'd like to hear your opinions on this! :) Thanks

Yes. All suggestions will be considered.

The new "current" name was not a solo decision. It was discussed with some of you via messenger (which is faster for something like this).

CD = represents the artist's album (which the cover is made for)

Art = stands for the CD's cover itself

Display = since CAD is skinnable the "Case" word appears to limit this concept

The abbreviation result was also a point of consideration (thanks to noroom): CAD or CDAD or CD/AD (Yochanan).

So there'll be just one name for all brands: CAD for Winamp, CAD for AlbumPlayer etc.

The fact is that CAD (WCC) is not only for Winamp: foobar2000, MediaMonkey, AlbumPlayer and iTunes.

Even for the upcoming site this will make things easier.

This is just a resume. :)

    • In what way is any of what I said incorrect? To install an update you need to close all browser instances, upping it from once a month to once a fortnight is an inconvenience for users. Particularly when updates don't offer functionality that users want (notably copilot). Security updates should come as they are needed, not on a release schedule
