[Release] Winamp CD Case RC 3

Recommended Posts

Hi Carlos!

I uninstalled the previous version, deleted all folders (after backing up my skins ;) ) and reinstalled. It was nice to have the program ask me what player I use, but it would've been nicer if it had automatically detected what player I have installed and suggested that instead. You know? Just look if the player executable exists in the folder it should be. You can read the Program Files folder location from the registry. Then, if a lot of players are installed, you could ask the user what he wants to use.

Also, after having selected winamp, I went to the control panel and configured some settings. After going through them all, I cliked OK, and the program asked me what player I wanted to use again. Maybe it's related to me ticking the "Start player" option?

CAD RC3 Build 314 (19 Apr 2006)

For those already using RC3 Build 299 (Full setup (913KB): http://www.closetosoftware.com/temp/cadrc3b299.zip)

- "Search Google" link added in Search Cover window (the default browser will be started)

- Minor bugs fixed

cadrc3b314.zip

:D

Great stuff as always :D Seems to work perfectly!

Theres a small request, isn't urgent, but could you have increase and decrease ratings in Hotkeys? Cause I use Toasters Hotkeys, then assign that hotkey to my mouse through setpoint, so when I move the scroll wheel left, it decreases the rating, right it increases, but that dosn't update CD Art Displays rating until the next play :( It isn't major at all! Just something that would be nice if it was added for me :D Thanks!

Hmmm, I checked in hotkeys for CAD but couldn't find a option to set a hotkey to increase or decrease the rating, only hotkeys to set a certain rating (5 star 4 star etc...) Bah thats annoying that winamp dosn't send it out :( oh well! :)

Hotkey increase/decrease: not now since I'd have to change a lot of things; in addition, increase/decrease seems to be a slowest way to accomplish the task: 5xhotkey instead 1x for 5 rating :s

Anyway, it's something to think about after 1.0 final.

Well yeah if you were actually reaching for the keyboard, it probably would be a slow way of doing it, but when I'm using my PC and a song comes up that I haven't rated, I can usually quickly tap the scroll wheen along till the rating I want comes up, Just saves me from having to take my hand off the mouse, pure lazyness really :p Like I say it isn't urgent at all, just a suggestion :) I can carry on using toasters option to increase/decrease ratings as that does work nearly perfectly :p

CAD (WCC) RC3 Build 345 (22 Apr 2006)

:)

I wrote a little program that helps you update CAD (for winamp). Just put the plugin DLLs and/or the CAD executable in the same folder as my tool (.NET 2.0 Framework, please :) ) and it will close the necessary processes, copy the files and run Winamp/CAD program again.

It assumes you have them installed to the default locations (C:\Program files) but you can change them. It will work with all builds from now on, as long as Carlos doesn't change the name of the DLLs/executables. :)

I wrote it because I was bored, but I still hope someone finds it useful.

CAD_Updater.zip

Just use the browse button to point the program to the right location for both, Winamp and CAD. Or replace the "C:" in the path with a "D:" :)

Here's a screenshot:

Oh, and make sure you check the status before updating. If the checkboxes aren't checked, it means that the program hasn't found the files to copy. Place the DLLs and the CAD executable in the same folder as the program. If you want, you can only place one DLL, or just the exe. It will update the files it finds in its folder.

This tool isn't a huge project, but it saves you the hassle of havint to close Winamp, close CAD, copy the updated EXE, browse to the CAD folder, paste it there, copying the DLLs, browsing to the Winamp plugins directory and pasting them there. With the rate at which Carlos releases updates, I thought this might be appreciated.

Hi, I have been using your great prog for a while now and so far it has worked beautifully. Unfortunately for some reason though, it sometimes doesn't show cover art of mp3's, when the cover is embedded withing the file. I tend to add the album art with a program called Itunes Album Browser (I need iTunes for my Ipod) and it adds all cover art into the id3 part of the files. iTunes sees the art, as does my iPod and also a plugin for Winamp called Toaster (which is similar to your program), but CD Case displays 'no cover' .

I am not quite sure why CD Case doesn't pick some of the art (it displays about 90% of all art) and I can't find the fault.

While it's not an urgent problem, a little help would be very much appreciated :) .

Hi,

Yes I did add the ID3V2 tag to the read settings (I also tried the 'any image' setting etc.) and all of my Mp3s have their covers in the tags, which is what confuses me. CD Case reads the tags correctly on about 90% of the files, but misses the rest (which can be read by other programs correctly).

If you want I could send you a short mp3 which CD Case cannot display.

P.S.: I also occasionally get the error : In ChangePixels - SelectObject(CopyDC, CopyBitmap) = 0 .

That has also just been happening recently (It seems I have been succesfully confusing your programs :p )

hi there,

another great fan of your app here, so first off - many thanks! :)

for the moment, just wondering how i could left align the notifier text etc underneath the cover ..?

by this i mean, i have the cover aligned to the left of my screen edge and if i select the notifier to go underneath this, it centres it, cutting off a good amount of the info ..?

ps sure there was something else to ask, but can't for the life of my think of it right now

cheers ..

@Grinner: you can send me your mp3 to [email protected]

"...It seems I have been succesfully confusing your programs" :D

Please, try this installer I'm testing right now: http://www.closetosoftware.com/download/cadrc4.zip

@mojomuse: "Control Panel>Skin Manager>Notifier text>Lines position"

Main position: Left

Pad left: -190

Pad top: 170

Just adjust these values for the skin you're using (NOTE: pad left is a negative value!).

    • While LibreOffice is not pleased to see a new competitor, they are absolutely correct in stating that Euro-Office using a MS file standard as a default is not being truly "European." Using a MS standard just means Euro-Office is just a "bastardized MS Office Suite." (Wasn't a major purpose of Euro-Office was to get away from being captive and enslaved to MS's Office Suite??)

Google has some bad news for those still using MV2-based extensions in Chromium-based browsers, particularly Chrome. The company is now removing flags responsible for Manifest V2-based extensions (uBlock Origin is one of the most popular). However, some browsers resist this change, and Opera issued a statement that it will allow users to continue using MV2 extensions for as long as possible. While Microsoft is still not ready to share new details about MV2 extensions in Microsoft Edge, the company shared important details about the way it will be updating the browser going forward. Now, Microsoft wants to update Edge every two weeks across all platforms instead of the current four-week schedule (only the Extended Stable is exempt from this change). This week, Microsoft confirmed a useful new Teams feature that is coming to the messenger soon. It also detailed all the improvements that made the platform better for users in 2026. However, not all changes are great, as the company is moving ahead with the check-in feature, which many believe will lead to employee monitoring. PowerToys received a feature update this week. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Steven Parker reviewed a rather unorthodox device here on Neowin this week. He took for a spin the DWARF mini, the world's smallest smart telescope for night and day sky captures. It tracks objects in the sky, has a sun filter, and has a low learning curve. There is also nice build quality and a quite affordable price. Pulasthi Ariyasinghe reviewed 007 First Light. The game turned out to be a satisfying spy adventure in the James Bond universe with great gunplay and combat, impressive crowds, over-the-top action sequences, and more. There are a few quirks here and there, but overall, the game scored high on our scale. • Microsoft Flight Simulator's City Update 15 enhances Midwest cities by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The third major city update of the year has landed for the original Microsoft Flight Simulator and the 2024 release. The latest drop is upgrading the visuals and regional accuracy of three metropolitan regions in the American states of Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. The 15th city update is adding eight new areas of interest that have been enhanced with high-fidelity TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface texturing in the mentioned regions. The free update highlights Chicago, Elgin, Cicero, and Arlington Heights in Illinois, as well as Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Duluth, Brooklyn Park, Woodbury, Lakeville, Plymouth, and Blaine in Minnesota. In Wisconsin, the development has also upgraded the lands and buildings of Milwaukee, Madison, and Racine. The update lands just as one of the world's largest enthusiast flight simulation conventions, FlightSimExpo, kicks off in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 14. The Flight Sim development team's 40-minute keynote at the event can be watched here. At the same time, Microsoft is bringing the 6-seat, single-engine, multi-use light civil airplane Piper M600 into the game as a part of its Expert Series 2 program. This premium plane can be purchased from the in-game marketplace for $24.99. City Update 15: The United States Midwest is now available in Microsoft Flight Simulator, as well as the newer Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as an optional download. It can be accessed across Steam and the Microsoft Store for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, as well as Xbox and PC Game Pass subscriptions. Xbox One, mobile, and PC players can also jump into the new content using Xbox Cloud Gaming if they have a Game Pass Ultimate membership. The game must be updated to the latest version to download this free update from the in-game marketplace.
