SkypeOut now free to US and Canada

Yeah, it's been going that to alot of people. Something about not reconizing the ip being in the U.S. even though your isp is in the U.S. It's going that to me to. As far as I know it's not your fault. it's skypes.

Yeah I know that part, but when it's dialing a red notice comes up saying I need to buy credit and the call fails. I'm using the newest skype.

Alot of people with the ip starting with 7 isn't working. You think they would have that worked out wouldn't ya? I don't know where they are getting their ip info but it's wrong. I emailed them about it. I would be supprised if they got it fixed.

My ip is 72.xx.xxx.xxx and is blocked also :(

Anyone knows if Skypes considers Puerto Rico as part of the US. I can't seem to get it to work although there are others in the US that can't get it to work either.

Yeah, Puerto Rico is included in the free calling area. Usually when they say US & Canada they already include Puerto Rico since we are a US Territory. I tested it out calling a friend of mine, heres the call list and charge.

Calling from Puerto Rico to the USA works great too! No charges!

It connects at work (Verizon), but not at the house (Bellsouth). My home IP is 72.145.*.*. I am not using the beta, but rather the latest stable version. Can anyone confirm that using the Beta makes the problem disappear?

Also - how can they financially support this? Even if the bandwidth is provided by the individual users, they still have to pay for the interconnects to the PSTN right?

I basically emailed back to find out how long they think it will take to get it fixed. If i was paying for the service i migt be a bit upset. but to be quite frank i am in awe of their customer service :woot: . their replies have been recieved in the shortest ammount of time I have ever experienced and i'll say again, im not paying a penny. Its a bit crap that its not working, but at least, on the surface they seem to want to keep up the customer relations.

I'll post back when i hear something

Hrm maybe its detecting your IP wrong or something.

Try testing these sites:

    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
    • I really hope the author's health is ok. Squirreling away a official backup of this software. Looks like the internet archive already cached a copy as well - https://web.archive.org/web/20...ldbit-soft.fi/software.html
    • AMD is supported out of the box in linux because of their open source driver. Nvidia does not. All my systems are amd and all of them work nicely on linux arch without doing anything.
    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
