Hurmoth
Oh man...... that screenie look ssssssweet! Love the transparency. Barney Yeah I tell ya, Xgl is awesome. The fact that it works with Intel IGPs is just awesome. And it works just as good as it does on my nVidia... try that with Aero :p Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/465788-gnu-linux-june-2006-desktops/page/4/#findComment-587600026 Share on other sites
GaMMa
Just installed Xgl on my OptiPlex GX520 using SuSE Linux 10.1 :D I can tell you're using Suse because the fonts look great. How exactly did you get around the lack of media support in it? I want to use Suse, but I can't play my mp3s, wmvs, movs, etc.. Sensayshun
Just wondering what you're using to view your files there StreetGames, I'm now running openbox just because I was curious and can't find anyway to view my files except using gthumb. Also how do you add things to the rightclick list? When I click it I only have a few basic options and firefox. ViperSnake
He's using the Rox file manager, but you can use Konqueror or Nautilus if you want, but make sure you launch Nautilus with the --no-desktop switch. You will need to edit ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml and add items that way. The menu syntax should be fairly easy to figure out. Feel free to PM if you have any specific questions or get stuck. mitch00
I use menumaker to get my base menu up (located in ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml as previously stated), then just start hacking out the stuff I don't need, and adding the few items it missed :), and yes that's the Rox file manager. Hurmoth
@rezza... :p I decided I wanted a dual-core system, so I ordered another GX520 and this time got the PD 820 instead of a P4 630. Xgl is of course installed and the desktop is a little more customized to my liking unlike the previous screenshot. Any questions, PM me :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/465788-gnu-linux-june-2006-desktops/page/4/#findComment-587612685 Share on other sites
