ok i have a dell E1505 i got vista sometime back and i wanted aero but sopsily my Intel GMA 950 Graphics Cards was not the right card today so but it works just fine if you want to do this heres how.

This is how I got Vista Glass to run on a GMA950:

First, I had to open up device manager. Click on the start menu and type in devmgmt.msc and Enter to load it up.

Once there, expand the Display Adapters section and right click on each device and select Uninstall.

Reboot the computer.

When it restarts, it should install a generic video driver so your screen will still work.

Go back into Device Manager, expand the Display Adapters section again and then right click on the device and select Update Driver.

This time select Browse My Computer for Driver and then Let me pick it from a list.

Go the the Intel section and select the Intel? Lakeport Graphics Controller.

Hit OK and install the new driver. Restart your computer.

Once you have rebooted, right click on your desktop and select Personalize again.

Click on Windows Colors and Appearance.

Click on Open classic appearance properties for more color options. aero.jpg

In the Color Scheme box, select Windows Vista Aero.

Hit OK and glass will now load.

If glass does not work for you, go back to Device Manager and ensure the new display driver is working.

it work on there chipset Mobile Intel? 915GM/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family i tryed it one my old labtop it work just fine

i sujest having 1 gb of ram i tryed it with 512 mb sysem ran slow with aero on with 1 gb of ram allmost as fast as it nomaly diok i changed it a bit so the screen should not go blank now follow the new onesb>

i got to give cretit to this guy Steve Sinchak

this is where i found it http://www.tweakvista.com/article38988.aspx

Thanks for the tip!!!!

This worked for me too. I wasnt getting Aero on my Nvidia go 6200. I just reselected Aero from the pannel and voila... Aero ..:):)

All x300 cards should work including the SE versions :) However, you'll need a minimum of 1 GB of memory since the graphics card uses shared memory.

Just be sure to use these drivers: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswe...uestionID=19933 :)

since the graphics card uses shared memory.

I'm pretty sure those are HyperMemory cards. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes...the x300, x600, and 200M cards all use HyperMemory. So, you don't need 1GB of RAM to run Vista. I've got 512MB with 128MB of it being given to graphics. It runs just perfectly, and it runs pretty fast on my Athlon 64 laptop. It'll run even better with 1GB...just waiting for my 1GB stick to get here from Newegg. :)

Hmmm I can't seem to get this to work. At first Vista (5456) installed proper 950 GMA drivers from Windows Update but those didn't enable aero, so I tried clicking update driver and installing the 'Intel? Lakeport Graphics Controller' and restarted. But when I opened up device manager it had an error. Any other ideas on how to get this working? I tried the old UseMachineCheck reg hack but that doesn't seem to work anymore.. I've got the Mobile Intel 945gm Express Chipset. Thanks for your help:))

Dan

I believe the 945/950 can run Aero Glass just fine. But the problem for me is that the "Lakeport" driver doesn't work on my Mac Mini, or at least it didn't in the last build I tried. Hopefully it will soon as the hardware should support all the necessary functionality. It just needs a working WDDM driver.

You have already posted that question here; https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...#entry588283681

I can get the drivers out of my beta 2 dvd if you tell me how.

I dont really know how it can be done as i dont have it in front of me. I dont know how that version's files are really structured. get something that can view the contents of .cab files (i think winrar can do it) and determine which of the files are intel graphics drivers, and then just post those i suppose

Honestly though, I was hoping to find atleast SOMEONE who still had it installed, as it would be quite easy for them to send the file.

Sorry about posting the same question twice, just trying to get more users to respond..these guys likely already have the driver on their machine, am i right?

Again, does it work with Mobile Intel? 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family?:ss
Yes it does work. And I have video proof at http://www.istartedsomething.com/20060613/...ta-screencasts/

I did exactly what the 1st post said, but for some reason ... I can't find the Intel Lakeport Graphics Controller listed when choosing which driver I want to install.

I have the Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS/910GML Express CHipset Family ...

Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

I dont think the lakeport drivers are provided in the final version of vista...

thats why i am trying to get someone, anyone to simply make these available online. they should be already, and i dont know why they wouldnt be.

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
