exact same happened to me just boot into safe mode and reinstall the correct drivers

Well, I've got it back to normal now, so I guess the Lakeport thing doesn't work.

Microsoftbetatester, could you give more precise instructions or something? =/

ok ok the sreen when black it happen to me a min ago when i installed it on my old computer i waited about 5 min and just held in the power butin and then i restared and it work for me ill see y it didnt work for you be back with ansre soon

That's really odd... even when I experimented a while back with the lakeport drivers on my 855 chipset, the resolution changed... nothing else :/

All you need to do is change the driver under device manager, and then restart. And if that doesn't work, then the drivers are simply not compatible with your graphics chipset.

After some system troubleshooting I could find the reason why my hibernate/sleep doesn't work.

It was the Lakeport video driver :(. I installed the 945GM Driver.. and it works fine, but no Aero support.

Do someone know where I can find an updated version of the Lakeport driver? I use Beta 5456.

Believe me, I'm not either. I'll be buying the memory in a couple weeks and the nVidia video card a couple weeks after that. I'd prefer to have the "rela deal" rather than a workaround anyway. ;)

Personally, I'm just gonna wait until Intel makes the right drivers. =/

I tweaked a little my 5456 Insall and I preffer it over XP now because the TCP/IP stack is way better, it feels faster and it has improved security.

But for graphics I used the Intel 945GM driver (isn't WDDM), so no Aero effects, but no side problems like graphic artifacts, not being able to suspend or hibernate, or not being able to watch a video in full screen. I hope Intel will give us a good WDDM driver soon.

Intel GMA 950 does support areo glass, you just need atleast 1gb or ram in order for it to be enabled. I know this cus both my brother and i have macbooks, mine is 2.0 white with 512mb or ram i can't get glass to work, but his is 2.0black with 1gb or ram and glass works fine.

All x300 cards should work including the SE versions :) However, you'll need a minimum of 1 GB of memory since the graphics card uses shared memory.
