Simon Thulbourn
NTL Completes Acquisition of Virgin MobileHook, United Kingdom, 4 July, 2006. NTL Incorporated (NASDAQ: NTLI), the holding company of the ntl: Telewest group, which now includes Virgin Mobile, today announced that having received all necessary court approvals, ntl: Telewest?s acquisition of Virgin Mobile has completed and Virgin Mobile?s shares have been de-listed from the London Stock Exchange. Under a previous agreement, ntl: Telewest has also entered into a licensing arrangement with Virgin Enterprises permitting use of the Virgin brand for ntl: Telewest?s full portfolio of consumer services. Together, the Virgin Mobile acquisition and licensing agreement will make ntl: Telewest a powerful new force in the fast-changing communications and entertainment industry and provide consumers with their first opportunity to buy a ?quadruple-play? of competitively priced TV, internet and fixed and mobile telephony services from a single operator through one of the UK?s most trusted brands. As the UK?s digital revolution gathers pace, the deal will also position the company to exploit the growing demand for converged products and services. Mike
NTL arent perfect, but I dont think they are as bad as alot of people make out. I like em. snap! a lot of the complaints are due to people expecting too much, eg people complain if they dont reach 10mbit 24/7, if you want 24/7 10mbit you're going to have to pay a lot more than ?35/month. Only times i've needed to phone ntl they've been fine and have called back to check everything was fine i cant see ntl switching the brand name to virgin though considering they invented ntl: telewest name to avoid paying a huge sum to the bbc for contract changes on the uktv brand (which telewest jointly owned with the bbc afaik)

lnmnky
Wonder if they'll still stay ****ed in thier customer services bit! They have 2 million customers. They do extremely well for a company of that size. Compare it to talktalk who have less than 100,000 customers and they still complain about bad service. Phone NTL at 9am and you get answered in 3 rings. NTL gave me 4mb for ?12.50 a month, just because I asked for it. That's not bad at all.:DD also, it doesn't say that they WILL rename, it says that they can brand using Virgin if they choose.
smooths*
It winds me up when people badmouth NTL:Telewest, i'm not totally sure about the NTL side but i've had no problems what so ever in the past 5 years with Telewest, they're polite, they call back and they always go out of their way to help! I know different people get different people, but most of my friends agree and anyone I know who has telewest have always said they're good. A lot of people are just biased because they have SKY which is the single most overated company in the UK! they ain't perfect and neither are telewest but telewest is anything but worse! Dick Montage
I had nothing but problems with NTL. I think that this is localised though - region dependant. In Leicester they were terrible, but in London I have many friends who have had no problems. Weird!
Shibby
Most of our problems with ntl normally was with the appoinment with NTL, Like they would turn up or not or not get the pass info passed on to them. One engineer even said to us that sometimes NTL only want people to take 10 mins on a job. One of the other engineers was pretty good he came out installed everything, was fine but about an hour later the boxes would freeze and had no internet. After another trip back turns out that cable was years old for analoge! so he replaced that. No luck still some problems. So he was able to knick a few of the silver samsung boxes for us. They have been perfect. Only slight probs we have had since then is Both boxes would freeze when changing channel or using tv guide, solved when the new updates were rolled out :) Channels dissapearing or not being in the correct place. Solve with a 5 min call to ntl and a nice bloke re sent all the signals :) NTL aren't that bad any more.

Alpha2004
What you mean rename like in name or just overall company? NTL has acquired Virgin Mobile, and will rename itself to the Virgin name. For now, they will operate as seperate entities. I hope I read that article correctly, otherwise I need to brush up on my reading skills. "For the time being, however, they will continue to operate as separate organisations and brands, so there will be no change to the services or terms and conditions of either company’s customers. It is anticipated that the company will start marketing a single portfolio of services under the Virgin brand some time early in 2007, if not sooner." PS: Their PR news announcement misspelled organization :p
+M2Ys4U Subscriber¹ Posted July 5, 2006 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 5, 2006 NTL are great if you don't have to deal with Tech support lying out of their arses to you. MagicMan
Well if they can't give us 10Meg, then they shouldn't advertise it's 10 Meg >>; If you check - you will see that its advertised as "up to" 10 Mb. On the whole customer services note though, the only time I have had to phone them was when my phone line went t*ts up and I rang from a friends house. I gave up after about 5 or 6 rings as I couldnt be bothered waiting to speak to somebody . Imagine my surprise when THEY rang me back to find out what the problem was. Robbie Khan Reviews Posted July 5, 2006 Reviews Share Posted July 5, 2006 Well if they can't give us 10Meg, then they shouldn't advertise it's 10 Meg >>; I doubt this will change anything to be perfectly honest, so this goes into the "Oh ok" folder :p They advertise it as "up to 10mb" MOST people get the full 10MB, SOME do not. I am on 4mb and get full 4MB speeds and this is on wireless so I don't have any reason to complain.

Douglas A Steadman
eh organization and organisation both are correct. NTL will rename using the name Virgin Media after christmas '06. By this time all of the problems due to the merging of the two companies should be fixed. Richard Branson will not want his name linked to a company with any problems, he has had enough in the past.
