MS System Restore is for Drivers and Windows System Files.

Time Machine is more like Windows Volume Shadow Copying

Sounds quite cool - can specify the volume where it backs up to and it keeps backups of everything you do.

Must say that does appeal to someone like me who is lazy with backing up.. if its just doing it continually to an external device for example. Sounds interesting...

Windows system restore is like it says just the system, that's why there are companies that sell back-up programs like Norton Ghost. This Time Machine sounds really great, every file on your OS. It will be interesting to see after 1 year, if there are slow downs to the OS.
