Lost - Season Three

Is it possible for that island to receive satellite broadband?...just a hunch

Satelite BB would be impossible here, as belive it or not, sateliete aculy requires you to have a dedicated modem connection, as you can only RECIEVE via satelite not send, this means that there downrate is thru there satelite, and up would be thru modem

Anyone think Juliet and Jack going to Hook up? I think they are, since Kate seems to going for Sawyer...

i second this

So here is my theory. The others really want a Zoo, so they are going to turn Sawyer into a polar bear, Kate into a tiger (that wears a dress), and Jack into a Dolphin.

LMFAO

But notice HOW close the Underwater Hatch to the Island? Just very short Distance!

i think theres like a hatch oin the island leading to a tunnel on the sea bed, going to it.

No, I just set up a corporation with satellite internet from an Island HQ that didn't have DSL provided here in the middle east.

We had an option of Satellite receiving and upload via normal dial-up or pay 2 times as much and do both send and receive from satellite.

IT's the same tech used by news people when they go to africa and asia and do their streaming video feeds live to the HQ in america/europe.

One more thing: who says they DON'T have phone lines anyway?

I mean, did you see that first bit? I thought they were in Suburban America!

I mean, why not? If Hanso is big and rich, it could easily have Cable internet even!

(then again, if they had cable tv why would they have book club meetings :p)??

This applies to the consumer sattelite broadband maybe (like that girl on the HughesNet ads) but remember, the Dharma Initiative is/was part of the Hanso Foundation. If anyone caught wind of the wild goose chase "Lost Experience" duing the summer, you'll know that the Hanso foundation has significant financial resources. I wouldn't be surprised if they even have their own private comm satellite or at least share a network of private satellites. The technology exists to get high-speed internet (up and down stream) via satellite. While it may not be available for the average Joe, if you've got a big enough wallet you can make it happen.

Some other thoughts:

I think The Others themselves (excluding Ben) are not so much more ahead on knowledge of what the island actually is than the Losties. Ben perhaps has a senior staff of people who coordinate things and in turn supply the rest of the Others with just enough information for them to be useful. Ben definately knows what's going on though. Juliet is probably one of Ben's elite. We still don't know why Sawyer, Kate and Jack were chosen...and we probably won't find that out for some time.

I don't think the facility is a zoo. I think it was used for animal experimentation and testing for some of the projects developed by Hanso. The cage where Sawyer was being held was no ordinary zoo habitat - there wouldn't be a logistics puzzle in place for the animals to get something as basic as food and water. The Hydra, the underwater hatch, was probably used as an animal enclosure for experiments as well. Something big happened to the whole facility where the Others are. Something big. And whatever it was, it was destructive and it probably happened quite a while ago. Perhaps it was Dharma's secession from Hanso....

From the end of S2, we learned that when Desmond screwed up and didn't enter the code and the electromagnetic site started to go critical, a tremendous magnetic field was generated which exerted just enough force on Oceanic 815 to crash it into the island. However, when this happened it triggered an earthquake at Otherville (the others' main camp) and everyone reacted accordingly. Except Ben. He came running out and looked up, almost anticipating the plane to come streaking across the sky. With a few quick orders, Ethan was dispatched and things were in motion. This further supports the theory that Ben may know more than the rest of the Others, save for a few.

Did the destruction of the hatch make an even bigger earthquake? Did it pull anything else down from the sky?

I guess we'll find out.

hmmm ... did any1 notice that little sarcasm in julia's reply at the end of the episode when ben congratulated her? Considering the fact that he escaped and locked the door behind him leaving julia and jack at the mercy of the water, I say she might hate him a little more now.

I think they all were given the truth syrum.. hence the inection marks on all three of them. Same thing happened to claire in season 1or2.. she gets kidnapped.. they inject her.. she tells them anything, does anything they want. Also when claire escaped.. she was halucinating as well. Sawyer, kate, Jack could have been drugged for awhile, hence the hunger they each had when waking up.

The others are slowly breaking each one of them down.. according to their character traits. Jack is stubborn.. hard to build trust with. They slowly make him comply and start to gain his trust. Sawyer is independant & proud.. the kid (karl?) who helps him escape created the sitiuation where sawyer was dependant on him (& now probably has gained his trust)... and almost obviously..

The whole escape was a set-up.

They escape from the cages.. the kid tells sawyer to run the other way.. Juliette, as if waiting for sawyer appears, conveniently reaches for a electro-shock gun and puts him down like a bear. The kid at the same time applies fake-blood, as if caught as well. Sawyer can now think the kid as a confidant, thus giving the "others" there all pervasive upper-hand.

Kate on the other hand.. she's a pretty secretive character.. not so sure yet what her parallel to what I said above is yet..

Benny & Juliette.. ya there definitely is tension, which does look like it came from a past relationship. I would say Juliette will eventually change sides.. hence the forshadowing at the book club (in the beginning) where she's expressing her difference in opinion with big boss benny in this context, a book.. which btw does anyone recognize.. its by stephen king i think.. maybe childre of the corn..? probably has relevance.

On another note all this talk about internet connection and the hatch underwater.. come on guys keep focused.. The hatch (hydra) btw.. is on the island.. has an aqaurium.. is where they used to keep caged animals to study.

And the "Others" are definitely the outcome of the Dharma initiative.. trying to lead their utopian life at all costs..

That's all I can think of at the moment ;) if anyone has anything to add to general character traits of each of the survivors.. please do.. these details have lots of hidden relevance.

Well, I have a couple of observations that I found interesting:

-There are CD-players, ovens, etc... but no computers, TVs as we could see.

-Ethan is a plumber

-The book that Juliet reads is "Carrie" by Stephen King.

Nice.. thx!.. so check this.. Carrie by Stephen King..

The story of a teenage girl with telekinetic powers. Carrie White was an outcast, who is pushed beyond human limits when she is cruelly taunted in front of her Prom, and she unleashed her frightening power upon the small New England town of Chamberlain in 1979.

Leaving the school and town looking like a warzone, Carrie turns her power on the only person she truly loves and hates - her fanatically religious mother, with devastating results.

Translation:

So Juliette.. is kinda becoming an outcast within the others.. maybe the tension between her and Benny is because she was "cruelly taunted" in front of everyone by ben.. she will probably eventually change sides and maybe she will leave the village in ruins.. and turn her anger on the only person she truly loves and hates.. the fanatically religious "Ben"!

wow. :)

From the Canadian Promo

We see pickett laying out instructions to sawyer and it seems later on he kicks pickett over in the american promo so I would assume he tries to run for it again and are they building something?

WHERE's MONICA!?!?!?!!?!?

BTW:

Eko still lives.

That's given in that there's an Eko-centric show coming up.... and Locke lives since JJ promised to reveal his wheelchair secret...

Only Desmond is "Status: Unknown" but with Penny....... i say he lives.

Spoiler Tag that!

Yea, I strongly agree that "The Others" have no actual file on Jack or of Kate and Sawyer accept what was told to them. But Jack was physically and emotionally was getting beaten down so he couldn't think straight. Juliet and "The Others" have no idea what is going on in the real world, don't know about Sarah or that Desmond's wife/girlfriend? is looking for the Island.

Good episode, the first 5 minutes were way cool.

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
