Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

Apparently... some of the visions are real and some are created by the smoke monster?! tho... what on earth could have possibly create such a machine...

Juliet - 3 options there:

1. she's working with Ben

2. she's sick of living on that island as the others

3. she's worse than Ben and wants to use Jack to take over the island!

I really got no idea on what option to bet on... tho I'm leaning towards 1

I didn't expect Eko to die here... anything in this episode was weird - I think we'll find that none of the theories put into this and previous forums work anymore, the minds of Lost writers are more twisted than any of ours.

Know what I find really funny about the last episode

When Juliet is showing Jack the TV he is inside a sort of holding Cell which has a glass wall, and everyone knows that Glass is semi-reflective especially in low-light conditions, the camera being positioned where it was would enable Ben to view everything that was being displayed on the TV set (albeit backwards) as from what I saw the TV was 2 or 3 feet away from the Glass which left a big enough gap for the camera to see the reflection. She must be really stupid or working with Ben or this is just a slip-up on the directors side...

Ok guys, the episode's aired. No more need for spoiler tags. Didn't see last night's episode yet, you shouldn't really be here if you don't want to know what happened.

That said, a few comments.

I think it's fairly apparent now that the black smoke is not even a black smoke, really. When Eko asks what Locke saw when he encountered 'it', Locke replied that he saw a brilliant white light. Eko replies, "That is not what I saw". This is interesting, as it plays on the light/dark duality that has been a recurring theme throughout the show, with the light of the hatch versus the black smoke of the Others' fire, and the black and white stones found with the corpses in that cave. Why would 'it' appear to Locke as a white light and to Eko as a black smoke? Is it choosing who lives and who dies? If so, based on what criteria?

The smoke can also manifest itself in pretty much any form it wants. Yemi's line of "You talk to me as if I am your brother" makes it fairly apparent that Eko wasn't having a vision of his brother, but that the smoke was appearing before Eko in the form of his brother. This is also alluded to when the smoke whips around the trees right before the vaccine smugglers and alter boy appear before Eko in the woods. The obvious question now is, has the smoke been responsible for every 'vision' on the island, including Jack's dad, Walt, the black horse, Dave, and others?

Then we have the interplay between Ben and Juliet. There are a few options. Perhaps they are both playing Jack and trying to goad him into making the decision to kill Ben, only to stop him and punish him before he does, or reward him when he decides not to go through with it. It's also possible that Juliet is a 'good' Other and wants to stop the 'reign of Ben'. However, perhaps Juliet is even more evil than Ben and wants total control over the Others. I guess we'll find out next week.

Omg! Great episode.

Mr Eko :(

CTV Preview Here

Shame we couldn't see the Dharma badge on that guy in the Pearl hatch, but it must be the flame.

Thanks for that I'll add to my site :)

Eko dying was inevitable seeing as if you have a DUI your dead on Lost :(

He didn't get a DUI, he was caught driving without a license, and those charges were dropped. Get your facts straight.

Thanks to Alarose for pointing this out. Over at "The Fuselage" Gregg Nations (Script Supervisor) answered a question and inadvertently unleashed a spoiler upon us concerning tonight's episode:

He was asked if Patchy from the previews (the one eyed man glimpsed on a pearl station monitor) was "Radzinsky" and his reply was 'slightly' illuminating:

Radzinsky is in the previews? Uh, no. We haven't seen Radzinsky because he's dead. We could only see him in a flashback. So you're a little off with that guess.

Well, Gregg, we could see him if he was on video tape, which a lot of people thought was a possibility. HOWEVER, Gregg, you now have told us that this character is indeed someone who is still alive. Which reinforces a bunch of theories, including mine, that Patchy is in the Flame station and is the last Dharma guy not to be absorbed into "the others". Wooooo Hooooo bring it on!

Not really a spoiler so I didnt put in tags...but who is then...seems like a whole new character.

tlogank - It gives lost a bad name and the producers don't like it whether he was caught or not or even charged it doesn't matter thats the end of you...sorry for mistaking the facts there.

Yes, I understand what you are saying, but everyone seems to want to think that it is related, because in reality, there have been numerous violations by the cast, and often numerous violations by the same person...it just doesn't get as much attention because they aren't killed off. And I don't see how Eko driving without a license reflects negatively on the show. Point is, I am 99.9999% sure Eko's traffic violation had nothing to do with his exiting the show.

And just an FYI:

? Josh Lee Holloway, who plays Sawyer, paid $153 in fines for going 53 mph in a 35 mph zone on Sept. 21, 2005.

? Dominic Monaghan, who plays Charlie the rock musician, paid $172 in fines for a March 10, 2005, speeding ticket for going 78 mph in a 55 mph zone and fines of $152 for an Aug. 12, 2004, speeding ticket . Monaghan was also cited for driving without a valid license on March 10, but that citation was dismissed.

? Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid, paid a $122 fine after a citation for driving 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on Oct. 15, 2004, and paid $232 after pleading no contest for speeding 70 mph in a 35 mph zone on March 9, 2005.

? Ian Joseph Somerhalder, who played Boone in the first season, paid $202 in fines after being pulled over in Kaneohe on March 2, 2005, for going 42 mph in a 25 mph zone.

? Christian Jason Bowman, who plays Steve, was fined $112 after he was pulled over going 53 mph in a 35 mph zone on May 5, 2005. After Bowman wrote a letter to the court, the citation was amended to 48 mph.

? Harold Perrineau Jr., who plays Michael, was ticketed for having no motor vehicle insurance and no safety check. The charge was dismissed after he provided proof of insurance.

Ok done a bit searching and found this and I was wrong so I stand corrected for once :p

According to USAToday, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who portrayed Mr.Eko on Lost asked the show?s creators to kill his character.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje asked to be written off the series. After losing both parents last year, he wanted to return to his London home and work on a film he?ll direct.

Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet, got to know him off the set. ?We got along really well,? she says. ?He?s about to direct his first movie about his life, which is an incredible story. He?ll be missed.?

Damon and Carlton explained to Ausiello why Eko died in last night?s episode:

Cuse: When Adewale came on the show, he didn?t want to make a long-term commitment to a series. We love him and so we agreed that he would come on the show and then we would find a time in which his arc would come to an end. And we sort of felt after a lot of conversations with him ? most of which took place at the end of the spring last year ? that we would finish his character somewhere in [these first] six episodes. And as we started talking about what was going to really help the drama of these six episodes, we thought, ?Well, this is the perfect place to do it.? As we said, we all kind of went into this [with the idea] that it was only going to be for a limited period of time.

Ausiello: It?s no secret that Adewale wasn?t the most beloved cast member. Did that play any role in his departure? [FYI: In next week?s issue of TV Guide magazine ? on sale Nov. 9 ? my colleague, Shawna Malcom, reports that, per multiple sources, the 39-year-old actor had become an increasingly difficult presence on set, refusing to film scenes as scripted, insisting on rewrites and even ?demanding? several times to be released from his contract.]

Lindelof: We don?t really talk about anything other than the creative decisions made on the show. If you?re hearing it from other people, you?re not hearing that from us. Not to mention, we?re in L.A. So we would never let that kind of thing determine the creative direction of the show. We?re all in the service of the story.

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
