Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

Crazy. Was a good episode.

Although part of me is saying "What next, aliens?".

I thought half way through tonights episode that this is just mad and it wont work but by the end I was in awe of the writing and my faith was returned :D

If Desmond has lived this before, wonder where it all ended?

I want to know the same thing. Why doesn't he spill a few more beans?

All things the same, next week is supposed to answer THREE of the big mysteries - what the Others are doing with the kids, why they're there at all, and how Jack got his tattoos.

i am not like this part 2 of season 3. sad.gif i am sorry.

Well, it's better than the first part of this season other than finally seeing how the Others live...not that that's saying much. :p

I was a bit disappointed that the vast majority of this episode was a flashback, but at least it was a very interesting one (not that I really hate the other recent flashbacks). Now I'm just hoping that the preview for next week's episode isn't another case of over-hyping because I'd love to see 3 of the biggest questions answered like they said.

The show is picking up momentum for me again. As much as I hated waiting so long for the mid-season break to end, I'm happy that we've got that over with and can look for consecutive episodes up until the season finale. I'm begging ABC to at least make the finale a 2-hour episode. That would be icing on the cake if the season progresses like it promises to be.

does claire look a bit chubbier in the face?

She looks different some how, but I don't think that's it though. I thought her hair was different and kept thinking how did she get her hair done on the island :p She's still absolutely gorgeous though! Out of all of females on Lost, I'd go for her or Juliet. (not that Kate, Pen, Alex, & Sun aren't attractive)

So, that makes me wonder if Ethan from "Not in Portland" was existing over and over in time too... I may just have to give up, this is getting REALLY trippy.

I wouldn't read that much into it just yet. I think we need to take seeing Ethan in "Not in Portland" at face value right now. We still don't know a lot about "The Others" and to assume he existing over and over in time like Desmond might be a little much. I assume that Ethan came to the island with Juliet, so I wouldn't come to that conclusion.

Yeah Ethan was like the head hunter just to go out there and grab the best in their field and go to the Island...at the moment I think all the stuff with Desmond and time traveling I think is just Desmond's world at the moment and until we know more about it...maybe another Desmond flashback?!?...we wont know...

Yeah, the answer lies within how he was able to relive his life. Obviously this has something to do with Dharma and probably the Widmore Corporation, but outside of that we really don't know anything else.

Before the end of the second season I believe, wasn't it a flash of Desmond's wife finding an anormalie on radar? Dont forget that scene.

That was Pen, not his wife, and she didn't find it, some Portuguese guys found the island and called Pen about it. That was in the present, they found it because of the electromagnetic field being turned off when Des turned the failsafe key.

Also dont forget Mr Widmore mentioned about the round the world trip in the boat so if we are to assume that Desmond took that trip on his boat and got lost and thats a reason why Pen asked those Polar Investigators to look for somewhere where a boat could go if it was broken up or just crash into i.e an island...but until we know more about then we really cant say...to many questions still regarding Season 2 finale...

I'm slightly confused. So Desmond isn't Psychic, he's just reliving everything over twice? I thought when he turned that key he relived those event's from the flashback, up until when he was hit with the cricket bat. So then how is he seeing Charlie 'die' and preventing it over and over? He's reliving everything over again right?

Absolutely correct, I forgot about that scene... :pinch:

Yeah but he said to Charlie he saw flashes...and every time it involves Charlie dying in someway...but as well he relived his previous life off the island again but this time because he had lived it already he saw bits of the island life in the flashback...I think thats right...even I'm confused now!!!

Who is Pen? I do not recall sorry please hint at me. One more thing now, if he was to have relived being on the island, would he have spend the whole 3 year on the island again, and if so, he would have recalled certain de ja vus and realized he has been done this? Assuming he realized quite quickly he is living his old live after the fail safe key incident. Utterly confusing

Ahh, i see. Makes sense, sort of. lol.

Pen is Penny or Penelope Widmore its just that I wanted to be lazy...lol

What I got from it was that everything in his flashback had something with the island in it...i.e the alarm clock showing 108 and the microwave sounding like the hatch beeper...he had lived that already but not with the island feel to it...he may of met Charlie first time around when he lived it before but not realise who he was then.

    • Microsoft finally admits its default Windows 11 25H2, 24H2 action broke key legacy component by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. So far the company has acknowledged two known issues that have popped up after the release which include bugged-out Office apps as well as the Recycle Bin; though there could be more at play too. Speaking of bugs and issues, Microsoft seems to have finally acknowledged a problem that probably has been around for close to a year. That's because back in July of 2025 the company made a default change to the latest Windows 11 versions, wherein it switched to JScript9Legacy on Windows 11 24H2 and later releases. Hence following the release of version 25H2 in October 2025, JScript9Legacy also remained default-enabled. As a result there has been a compatibility issue ever since then. For those wondering, by switching to JScript9Legacy Microsoft intended to improve the security of modern Windows PCs by reducing vulnerabilities tied to legacy scripting like cross-site scripting (XSS), among others. XSS exploits can allow cyber-attackers to attach malicious code onto legitimate websites and use them to execute the code when a potential victim loads such a website. Hence the new JScript9Legacy engine enforced stricter execution policies and improved object handling, which should help mitigate such attacks. Microsoft today has published a new support article detailing the problem. Neowin spotted it while browsing. The company says that JScript global definitions and execution context may fail to persist across scripts, potentially breaking older dependent apps and web-based components that relied on this legacy behavior. In the article Microsoft has confirmed that the issue stems from its move away from the older jscript9.dll engine in favor of jscript9legacy.dll. As mentioned above, while the newer engine was designed to address vulnerabilities and strengthen security it also changes how JScript handles execution context. As a result functions and definitions loaded by one script could no longer remain available to subsequent scripts once execution ended. The company notes that some applications worked correctly on earlier Windows versions because the older JScript engine automatically retained global definitions and execution state between scripts. Under the newer model though that behavior is disabled by default causing certain legacy workloads and polyfill-dependent scripts to fail. Microsoft says it addressed the problem via the KB5077241 update though the fix had not been enabled automatically in the following updates. As such admins must explicitly turn on persistent JScript execution context using a Registry setting that the tech giant shared today. The configuration can be applied to individual processes or system-wide through the FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE registry key. The steps have been outlined below: Run the following command to create the feature control registry key: reg add "HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PERSISTENCE" Under this key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) value. Configure the value as follows: To enable persistence for specific processes only: Set the value to 1 for each target process name. To enable persistence for all processes: Add * as the key name and set its value to 1. You can find the official support article here on Microsoft's website.
