Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

You know, the lady selling the ring makes me wonder about other characters in out lostaway's pre-island lives... like the psychic that told claire she HAD to go on the plane, even bought her tickets. Did he know about the apparently circular time thing going on?

Well this does confirm the destiny thing. These people were destined to be 'Lost' on the island.

I don't know why, but I'm starting to like Lost less and less. I guess it is for two reasons, firstly the long break. I'd rather them start later or end earlier. And secondly, the fact that almost no mysteries are being revealed. Does anyone feel the same?

i feel kinda the same but kinda different... i know what you mean about liking lost less and less, but i think it's partly because they ARE revealing stuff, because everything they've revealed so far has just led to more and more confusion.

on a side note.. about tonights episode, someone posted a very in depth theory about parallel universes on a lost forum i go to.. long read but very thought out, and regarding tonights episode apparently the picture of desmond and penny, the one he took while in the "flashbacks?" and the one he woke up with show penny wearing different clothes, i didn't catch this one myself but it would add more to the parallel universe theory i think.

anyway if you want to read the theory i'm talking about, you can check it out here

I agree that people are reading way to much into the living thru it agian. I mean obviously Desmond has, but he turned the key, I feel relatively safe in saying that I do not beleive anyone else is going throught eh same thing, otherwise it would be pretty easy for them to all fit their own memories together and figure it out.

This was definetly an interesting ep though. Charlie turned into a pretty weak character for the middle bit in season two, but they are writing him more true to his original character again and it makes him more likable. That is one thing that bothers me about Lost (and honestly this is the only thing) is the way characters change a bunch in a few eps then go back to normal later. Like Sawyer when he jacked all the guns and it seemed like he was going to be some jackass, but in reality he didn't change at all, and they wrote some weak thing to get the guns to whoever needed them from that ep forward. And how charlie went all heroin strange last season, apparantly without taking heroin and attacking sun. That really didn't seem like a very charley thing to do.

But yeah, i don't want to bitch too much, Lost is fantastic.

Did they have to turn Lost into Final Destination ?

I was going to say that...

Tonight's episode was flat out insane. A new barrel of worms has been cracked wide open. I'm still not clear on what it is Desmond can do...I guess he saw fragments of his future when he turned the key....wait wait that's why he called Charlie and Hurly away into the Jungle! So that Charlie wouldn't drown trying to save Clare.

Duh...

Ok ok, just answered my own questions. hah.

Perhaps Desmond is not reliving his life again, perhaps charlie is no where near dying, perhaps these thoughts are just de ja vu/dreams desmond is having after the fail safe incident. Just a more deviating thought.

Thanks Rappy, like the sound of the ABC promo!! :D

Did they have to turn Lost into Final Destination ?

Haha, that was going through my mind as well! It was a really weird episode but very enjoyable, i think this episode decides whether people will stop watching it because its gone completely out of hand or people watching it to the end.

I dont agree at all. Well, big answes wont come in this or even the next season. The producers have already said that small questions would be answered in this season.

But, it is still interesting. One cant enjoy a show like lost, if they are not prepared to take the ride and be patient.

This is was one crazy episode. And judging from the us promo the next one should be a shocker.

Did they have to turn Lost into Final Destination ?

 I don't get that connection at all. In Final Destination, someone sees what is about to happen before it actually happens. In last night's Lost, someone relives their life over and over again. Two completely different things. This is more closely connected to the movie D?j? vu than Final Destination.

Some interesting points from our friends at The Transmission:

Many moments in this episode made me sit back, gasp, smile in wonder. But for all the mythology revealed to us in ?Flashes Before Your Eyes,? I most savored the sight of our old friends. Charlie, Hurley, Locke, Sayid, Sun? I didn?t even know how much I missed them until I saw them on screen again. And when Charlie asks, ?What happened?? I actually needed Locke?s cryptic response to catch me up on the main island storyline. Alas, we only see the gang briefly before diving into Desmond?s flashback (if that?s what it was)? but there was more than enough story and clues and easter eggs to fill the hour.

Even though I count myself more a fan of the characters than the ?mystery? of the show, ?Flashes Before Your Eyes? gave one of the most satisfying, mystifying servings of mythology in seemingly ages. The questions this episode raise go much deeper than who the Others are, and get straight to the fundamentals: choice or destiny, coincidence or fate, free will or futility. Does what Desmond experience prove that the ultimate outcome is predetermined? Or is it actually our first glimpse of the courage needed to change things? The mysterious old lady (with the unspoken but telling name of ?Ms. Hawking,? played by the elegantly eerie Fionnula Flanagan) pierces our little ?LOST? tableau with a blizzard of assertions. ?The universe unfortunately has a way of course-correcting,? says she. ?You don?t do it because you choose to, you do it because you?re supposed to.? Desmond, initially and naturally defiant, suddenly comes to believe her, ?reminded? of the future by the simple photograph. But he changes his mind twice more: in the aftermath of the hatch implosion, he begs for another chance to change things. Caught up to ?real time,? though, he tells Charlie he?s more sure than ever that he can?t.

So which is it? My head hurts. We?re going to have to watch that again, indeed.

Penny sending Desmond to seek a job from her powerful father carried shades of Sun and Jin. But Desmond doesn?t grovel, and Mr. Widmore quite elegantly articulates his contempt for his daughter?s suitor. The humiliation was obviously key to the Desmond we now know? joining the military, racing around the world, seeking to do something important (even if it is pushing a button). I?m not sure whether Desmond ever did have those conversations with Ms. Hawking, but even when we first meet Desmond in the hatch, he?s conflicted about whether he?s saving the world or not. As are we all.

Jen?s theory? The failure to input the numbers resets time. Perhaps they?ll find the balloon again, says she. My theory? The exact opposite. That there has been a time loop of some kind, a distortion at least, but that the failsafe ?broke the spell,? as it were. And ?LOST? will ultimately be the story of people able to change their destiny who had come to believe they couldn?t.

What if Ms. Hawking is Penny Widmore? Her annoyance at Desmond?s belief that he was going to change, that he was going to propose, sure seemed a little? personal.

But that could just be the whiskey talking.

Both Desmond and Charlie are told they are good people. It?s been a while since we?ve had one of those categorical declarations. And then there?s the red. The half-painted red walls in Desmond?s ?rat trap? (?Future? brand paint, in fact). The red shoes of the ill-fated pedestrian. The? well, it was important, anyway.

Even with all the? puzzles (?mind****s,? suggests Jen), tonight?s episode also brought us lots to smile about. Jen enjoyed the drunken beach scene with Desmond, Charlie and Hurley. ?He?s ******ed,? Charlie determines. Hurley does nickname duties with ?Desmondo.? The football game was sponsored by Apollo bars. Mr. Widmore?s office was dominated by a painting of a polar bear. And his office is 815? a number that was, of course, as familiar to Desmond as it was to us.

That picture of Desmond and Penny at the marina ? which goes back to the start of Season 2 ? raises an interesting question? if it?s not a continuity error. Desmond apparently cherished that photo, taken on the pier, and kept it with him since that painful day. But if there was only one copy, how exactly did Penny have a copy on her nightstand at the end of Season 2, when we first meet her in ?real time?? Or ? brain freeze! ? was it?

  • The return of ?Make Your Own Kind of Music? had me beaming. And Charlie?s performance of ?Wonderwall,? Jen notes, gives us a convenient time frame (after October 1995).
  • The bartender that doesn?t get hit with a cricket bat is Michael Titterton, president and general manager of KHPR, a Hawaii radio station. Locals know that British accent anywhere.
  • Claire has bangs now? And speaking of Claire? did you spot Hayden Panettiere (cheerleader Claire on ?Heroes?) in the commercial for Neutrogena?
  • Desmond in the rain: Shawshank Redemption? Ring tossed in the ocean: Lord of the Rings?

Very interesting points there.

Indeed. I dont' believe the re-living thing anyway, as Desmond said it was just a flashback because of his regrets for making bad choices. And the whole flashback leading up to why he attack Charlie when he called him a coward in the first place.

I've got a feeling Desmond will see that ring again. And I don't think Charlie will die soon. If somebody dies, it's got to be a surprise.

Charlie might die. I think the most exciting thing about that situation is that you don't know WHEN he might die.

 I don't get that connection at all. In Final Destination, someone sees what is about to happen before it actually happens. In last night's Lost, someone relives their life over and over again. Two completely different things. This is more closely connected to the movie D?j? vu than Final Destination.

I think he means the fact that Charlie is gonna die...by any means...and of course in Final Destination Death comes and gets you....you cant avoid it...if you change it once he will try something else...like that woman said to Desmond if she told red shoe man not to go near scaffold he would of been hit by taxi tomorrow...so I think thats the likeness to FD.

It is also the same theory of time travel that was used in the book\movie 'Time Machine'.

was an amazing episode really got me back intruiged in lost. next weeks finally looks like its giving us some major answers.

Yeah I cant wait to see

Cindy again because I always wondered how she was involved...maybe she was a headhunter just like Ethan but she wouldn't know the plane would break up so :s

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.

With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
