Lost - Season Three

A co-worker of mine has a theory (don't we all?):

The Others all have some sort of "power" and that is why they like Locke, he seems to have the power to heal. Richard has the power of long life (immortality). Ben has the power of telekinesis (thats how he manifested his mother as a child). But he's going nuts and in fact "created" jacob. In other words there is no Jacob, it is just Ben being crazy. That is why they really wanted Walt as well.

Not a well fleshed out theory, but has some interesting points.

I wonder if Richard is part of some group who crashed on the island years ago (like on the Black ship?)... Just how long has he been there?

I was discussing this earlier with Peewee that Richard could be hundreds of years old...I mean he might of been around since the days of the toe statue...

Everything fits except the Jacob part. I still think Jacob is a real person. The writers have said that Jacob is a real person in the podcast haven't they? Rappy, help me out here :p

Yeah they said just because he wasnt credited doesnt mean he doesnt exist and as we saw last night in some extent there he was but why was he invisible and how can he make a whole house shake...

You see my theory and take it for whats its worth is that Jacob is a Hostile always has been looking at his clothes it fits that and for the whole time he has been gifted with a power and no other hostile has so it makes him special so he is the leader but seeing as Ben saw his dead mother and maybe noone else can see Jacob then its only Bens vision....tho Alex said Locke may need a gun....christ I am confused....I want answers!!!

Jack also thought he was seeing his dad, Locke saw Boone, Eko saw Yemmi, Shannon and Sayid saw Walt (though he isn't dead), Hurley saw Dave, though I'm still not sure if that was Hurley going nuts or seeing things like other people saw, Kate and Sawyer saw the horse, though they could touch it (and it was likely the same horse that the black woman whom Mickael shot rode).

There may be something to the idea of special people having gifts of some sort. Walt possibly has a gift of imaging something being there and *poof*, it's there. It was also asked if Walt was seen elsewhere on the island. Walt also communicated to his dad at the computer... let us not forget that!

Ahhh I want more answers too!

Great episode. It can be summed up by...

OMG

By the way, did anyone else crap themselves when Ben's mum appeared at the window? Scared the hell out of me that :p

Sorry pal, you're the only one with soiled pants... now clean thyself! :)

I really want to see Jacob again this season but I doubt we will...also maybe some origins behind the house he lived in...looks ancient...

looking forward to the podcast theyll be able to shed light on alot of the mysteries of this episode. especially richard alpert. next episode looks good hopefully roussou blows the others (minus richard, tom and the kids) the hell up. and whats with the air hostess suddenly being an other?

I just think it is totally bad ass that Uncle Rico is Ben's dad :)

He is also the same guy who played Lazlo Hollyfeld in Real Genius

Oh so that's where i remember him from! How much you wanna make a bet he could have thrown a football over them mountains? :p Horace was also the guy from Green Mile.

Good episode though. then ending was so shocking that i got straight onto messenger to get some info from Rappy!

For 40 minutes theres a chair with noone on it...and thats the episode :D
probably be better than another Jack episode.:p

I wonder if Jacobs hut was mentioned on the blast door map, i doubt it though...

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
