Lost - Season Three

OK, I admit.

Despite the twist it wasn't a total letdown. But still.

OT: I was right! TLG was never flooded in the first place :D

Can't be Dharma on the boat, because Dharma has no clue WTF Des is and knows nothing about Penny - remember, the files they have are only on the survivors of 815, and Des was stuck in a hatch.

It can be Dharma. Remember Dharma is funded by Alvar Hanso who is friends and has worked with the Widmore Corporation, who is owned by Penny's father. And of course Charles Widmore has to know that Penny is looking for Desmond, so who's to say that Charles isn't trying to find him first.

And the files, what do they have to do with Dharma. The Others got the files from Mikhail, who was doing research on all of the passengers aboard Flight 815. Not sure I see a connection between Mikhail's research and Dharma?

Just got to thinking...

Did Jack ever find his father after the crash landing?

I am thinking that his father was never dead and that the smoke monster made him think his father was dead..

And when Jack leaves the island, Jack finds out his father is still alive?

but I can't remember if jack ever finds his father's body or not

Excellent episode. So glad i didn't read the spoilers, but they were spot on! I like Charlie more from this episode, they should of had more of Walt but still good.

Now we have that looooooooooong wait...

Jack identified his dad at the morgue. Christian Shephard is dead.

Mikail will be back...you can't put a great man down :D

I was just jokingly thinking this morning...Mikail will be back next season. Not even a grenade can stop a crazy Russian.

THE MAN JUST WON'T DIE!

Another thing that I was thinking of was:

?You aren?t supposed to do this.?

From Locke.

I'm sort of thinking with the Flash forwards, that they are a possible scenario that could occur at that moment in time based on the events occurring at present. EXAMPLE: Based on the events of that Season finale day, That is the Jack's future. However in season 4, that future could be altered based on the route that he takes at present (He could kill someone, Or someone could die and that entire future flash could change directions).

This also relates to Desmond's visions of the future. Those future events are not concrete (As we know from him saving Charlie).

Charlie just died in TLG. The flash forwards were way in the future, Jack talked about flying back and forth trying to get back to the island. So it was at least months, if not years, since they left the island.

And speaking of which, I thought it was a wonderful touch to have Aaron crying after Charlie died.

I did NOT cry, I had something in my eye...

Charlie frustrates me to no end.

1st, he smacks Desmond over the head with an oar when all he had to say was "No thanks, mate! I got this one!"

Now he seals himself in the jamming equipment room with a mild water leak that would've taken easily HOURS to fill up the entire pool room. Why not just step out of the room and shut the door? MORON!

Granted, i understand why he did it... vision and all... he has to die so Claire can be saved... but it's more like he chose to die as opposed to the vision actually coming true. He obviously didnt HAVE to die. Makes you wonder had he gone on this mission w/o the knowledge of his death... would it have turned out the same way?

I was sitting there thinking, "Ok, you did it the signal is off - now swim out of the frickin blast hole behind you!"

Ok, so here are some of my random thoughts:

- Was the reason that Kate was not in jail and Jacks Dad is (maybe) not dead due to some way in which the island causes you to face your demons, thereby altering your destiny? In other words, when they get back they realize that after some "island therapy" there lives are "fixed". But for some, it was incomplete hence Jack's desire to go back so badly.

- Who are really the "good guys"? Are the Other's a group of Dharma rebels who have latent "abilities" that manifest themselves after island exposure? Are they really the good guys and Dharma is the group who want to abuse and exploit the islands powers?

- I had more originally but most posts have addressed them...

I was thinking that too. He is a small guy (Hobbit) however It didn't look like his shoulders would fit. That and Mikhail the crazy Russian is waiting to gum him to death outside :shiftyninja: .

Still...He could have tried.

Also, Naomi said that they (flight 815) was recovered and all were declared dead... How is that gonna be worked out?

How far in the future is the flash forward? Jack's beard is pretty substantial. I wonder if next season will start off before what we just saw and work it's way to it?

Hours? It would have taken a number of seconds. Once the water started coming in and the pressure keeping the moon pool down equalized, the room would flood, probably with explosive decompression due to the air having nowhere to go.

step out of control room. Shut door. No dead Charlie. No flooding. No Pressure.

and do you honestly think that's what was going through his head? I can only imagine Charlie thinking "OMG if i dont get this leak cut off from the main chamber, pressure will kill us all!". And if he was smart enough to think that.... step out of control room... shut door.

Charlie died because he believed that the rest of the Losties (including Claire and Aaron) wont get rescued if he didnt die. Remember, thats what Desmond told him.

This was the best season of lost! The first few episodes were not mind blowing (but still quite good), but last few have been awesome.

Agreed, and I think the fact that the keypad had been programmed by a musician only reinforced that it was Charlie's destiny to die and Charlie excepted that.

Doesn't matter, The creators decided it was time for Charlie to die... Then it was so (They're kinda like god).

For all we know that flash forward could have been events at or beyond the end of the series. Maybe instead of flash backs their gonna do flash forwards from now on and we see the events on the island leading up to those events.

Thats a really good point. We know all of Jack's past now and nothing to add to it, so maybe him and a few charcters will get flash forwards instead of backs.

Probably at some point. We have got the base of the majority of the character's pasts.

Great season. I have to admit I did get a little annoyed at the beginning of the season with the lack of answers being given...But I still saw every episode. This is still one of the best series hands down. I still have yet to purchase the Season 1&2 DVD's (Which I think I'm going to do friday)...And I'll be waiting for the season 3 DVD.

We're not sure about Kate, though there could be a lot of scenarios. And...

Why do people keep insisting that Christian Shephard is alive?! :omg:  :argh:

The writers even said it, CHRISTIAN SHEPHARD IS DEAD. We saw his lifeless body on a slab. End of story. He'll likely appear from Smokey, but that doesn't count as alive.

As for the good/bad guys, it's really hard to say, but maybe there is some truth to what Ben is saying, although good guys wouldn't normally take the course of action the Others have taken: kidnapping children, killing anyone that stops them, forcing people against their will, etc.

Edit: Ok, I'm calm :)

Anywho, if Christian Shephard were alive, well, that would make this picture negligible:

There was no lock on the outside of the door.

Then what happened to the body? And I haven't heard the writers say the Christian is dead and I've listened to every single podcast, can you tell me which one it is? I'm not questioning you, I just don't remember that.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
