Lost - Season Three

Recommended Posts

The newspaper is DISTORTED so much, you CAN'T be sure of that. It looks like 'a' but since the Newspaper is distorted, so it's anything but certain! There I said it Twice, let me say it the Third time, It's DISTORTED!

As I said 'John Locke' the name was also a Philospher, so it makes MORE sense this name is a Philosopher name as well.

The writers of the show HAS a history of picking names who are scientists, philosopher, etc!

So if I get what you are saying, its basically

"The newspaper isn't distorted enough for me to determine what it says, but too much for you to prove me wrong."

Got it.

Oh, and "John Locke was a philosopher, so this name is a philosopher".

By the same token, isn't Jack Sheperd a reference to Alan Shepard, the first man in space? You know, the whole Faith vs Science thing that is a big part of this show?

So what if there was a similar name of a scientist, can I scream about it being that scientist and nothing else?

If I remember correct they said that season will be on the island, but not on the island, so take that how you to :p

To me, that means that the season takes place on the freighter.

I suspect that we'll be getting more real time scenes with Penny, scenes on the freighter, and of course on the island itself. That's my theory anyway.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me to have the season premier a flashback of Penny. What has she been doing since Desmond left? I think that would be an awesome season premier, of course they'd split it between her and what's happening on the island as well.

No, Episode.

What I am saying is Jeremy Bentham MAKES the MOST SENSE to me, because the Writers' Habits of choose Philosopher, scientists names, etc for Lost's characters

Plus, you Really CAN'T judge how the letter looks on the newspapers, because it's SO Distorted where the letter is at.

I think it's COMPLETELY possible that letter is an 'e', BUT just so distorted that it looks like an 'a'

No, Episode.

But not all the characters are named after philosophers though, only like six of them, so you can't be sure about that. And while the letter is distorted, an "a" still fits better than an "e" in there, it just doesn't look like an "e" at all to me.

But that name comes very close though!

So, I'm leaning towards it being entham rather than anthan because of this.

I think its completely clear that its an a. I don't think its distorted it all, in fact, I'm more interested in getting the letter before the a, which I believe is an L because of the horizontal line that is visible at the bottom of the space.

Your logic that 'they have used philosopher names before, so this is one too' is completely flawed.

Kate Austin - 19th century anarchist and feminist

James Ford - 19th Century American pirate and civic leader (among other James Fords)

Not all their names are references to philosophers.

But that name comes very close though!

I won't argue that's the only philosopher who's name comes close, but I'm still not sold just yet. Hopefully we won't have to wait 'til season five to find out who it is though like we're having to wait two seasons to find out about the four toed statue.

Yeah I would love to know more about that statue I haven't seen anyone mention Richard taking the others to "The Temple"...I wonder what that is all about?...

We were talking about that at lunch today actually. Only me and another guy even caught that, everyone else was like "Huh? Gonna have to watch that again." I would like to know more about this "Temple" myself, I have to wonder if that is part of the rumored "Ruins" that I keep hearing about, which seems to fit the four toed statue theme.

Probably just another structure, or area like 'the ruins' (where the Others were with Locke and Cooper)

Though it could be a station.

The 'ruins' are where Cooper was tied to the post.

I wouldn't say that was the ruins, as stated on Lostpedia, "It is also currently unknown if the "old place" Ben referred to is the ruins or the ultimate destination of the Others. It is however more likely that The Ruins are not in fact the "old place" as the others have not yet finished their journey."

Nothing official has been stated that the place where they had Cooper tied up and Ben tried to get Locke to kill his father is the ruins, so I'm holding out until further confirmation on that one.

Yeah maybe its the church where all the Dharma people prayed and stuff...who knows it would be interesting tho something I would like to know is how old is Richard...after all he hasn't aged in 30 odd years so he probably knows the Temple from the beginning...

Hi :)

I just saw this episode but where's Walt??

They have to kill off walt sometime. Otherwise he is going to cause big problem. He was something like 13 when the show started, and would be 18 by the time he ends. Where as on island so far it is still less than 6 months since crash.

Lost Finale - Through The Looking Glass Easter Egg - Roundup

Regarding Patchy :

A bit gruesome, for sure, but this shot proves that one mystery has not been solved: the glass eye. It has long been considered that the glass eye found in the Arrow station belonged to patchy, but clearly his eye socket is closed over by fused scar tissue.

Another interesting bit.

Hoffs/Drawlar isn't just a funny name for a funeral home, its also an anagram for "Flash Forward".
Now he seals himself in the jamming equipment room with a mild water leak that would've taken easily HOURS to fill up the entire pool room. Why not just step out of the room and shut the door? MORON!

He needed to close the door to keep the moon pool stable. But there's another thing wrong with that scene; the portal did not touch the ceiling in the control room, so the water would only have risen to the top of the portal once he closed the door, leaving an air pocket for him.

See?

I don't get it...

Any air pocket he would've had would've eventually run out.

Point out some things:

Walt can teleport or something. Reme on the other doctor's face when Jack said "bring my father down." He didn't act surprised or shocked that Jack was under the impression his dad was there.

Yet, WITHOUT A DOUBT, his Dad was dead - we saw the body. What explanation can join between these two but an alternate/parallel universe? One where Jack never crashed?

*****NONSENSE WARNING***********

Imagine it like this: what if - just like Des had his life replayed with alternate decisions - Jack and Kate had the same. They saw what happened on the island and want to change it?

*************END WARNING********

For those saying that this is the pember the question: "Have you seen Walt where you weren't supposed to?" and that's OFF the island where there is no Jacob.

Edward Sayid <----> Sayid Jarrar is a coincidence, Sayid is a VERY popular Arab name. "John Locke" isn't :p

The "temple" - I believe that's the big huge rock-mountain with the door and the fake wall (season 2?)

---------------

Did the LOST Producers ever EXPLICITLY denounce any parallel universe theories? That's the only explanation that can have Jack back, and his Dad still alive.

In the episode, Jack's dad WAS ALIVE. You can tell by the (lack of) surpris

ast (and that Jack knew Kate or whatever BS), it's not. They gave him the "gold pass" for what happened.

I don't think Mikhail is "invincible" - Ben called him a "loyalist" - to the ISLAND. He is like Locke - probably a ying-yang thingy. Locke is good, Mikhail is bad (or whatever), and so long as they're not totally dead, the island can and does heal them.

-----------------------

Locke shoulda killed Jack when he had the chance :p

No, Episode.

Alright give it a rest will you we get what your trying to say, getting irritated now.

I know, right? It's not like you'll die if it turns out to be the wrong person. *SIGH*

Anyway, will you look at that! This thread is FIVE STARS again!

WT!F!??!?!? :@

the post i had was corrupted!

"Walt can teleport or something. Reme on the other doctor's face when Jack said "

There's a paragraph missing!

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
