Lost - Season Three

Also, Naomi said that they (flight 815) was recovered and all were declared dead... How is that gonna be worked out?

How far in the future is the flash forward? Jack's beard is pretty substantial. I wonder if next season will start off before what we just saw and work it's way to it?

Naomi was lying to them from the start. You can't trust what she says.

Given the beard growth, it would seem at least 6~8 months. Funny how the hair stays the same but the beard is scraggly.

You guys Frustate me to No end, the name is Jeremy Bentham, period. ACCEPT IT PLEASE!!! To me, that's the ONLY name that Fits!!!

I am gonna say the character 'Jeremy Bentham' is going to be NEW (Perhaps the guy on that Boat) NOT Locke or Ben or anybody we already know!

I am surprised you still think it's John Locke or James Ford, while the Last name clearly Ends with 'ntham'!

Dude calm down. You are reading an old post, I've already stated that I no longer believe it to be John Locke or James Ford.

Just to make sure I'm clear, CALM DOWN.

Mikhail seems to be invincible. It's getting ridiculous.

I knew it was a flash forward for Jack right away. However, I doubted it throughout the episode until the end. I hate how they revealed the future though. They survived, which gives away way too much.

OR Jack and Kate knew each other previously :shifty:

For the (insert insanely large number here) time, Christian Shepherd is DEAD! ... Source: Lost Podcasts
Wrong. As stated before, "Christian was said to be dead in the 4/20 Official Lost Podcast though the producers qualified their statement by saying that they "may be using the word 'dead' in a sense we [the audience] don't fully understand yet." This indicates an uncertain status as to Christian." Source: http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Christian_Shephard

So until we know further information stop acting like you know the exact status of Christian Shepherd when in fact all you have is your opinion. Please be civil about posting your opinion, theories, ideas, questions about the show. There's no need to get hostile, it is after all just a tv show. Thanks!

No, its not.

It is pretty clearly

Jo ......... antham

You have Es in two spots that are clearly not. Especially the one in the last name, that one is clearly -antham.

I agree that it is pretty clear the last name ends with antham, but I won't argue about the first name. I am leaning your way, Jo, but I can't say for sure though.

That letter is more ambiguous, it can be either e or o. But the a is clearly an a.

I'm leaning towards Jo--- Lantham.

Look at the a before ntham and the a in Grand, they are exactly alike.

You should take a moment and breathe. Not everyone lives and breathes the show. Not everyone has examined a close-up of the newspaper article. Many are just going by what they watched.

Also, Jeremy Bentham is NOT the only name that fits. In fact, I doubt Bentham fits at all, since I'm almost certain the name ends in "antham" not "entham". Look at the blurry letter preceding the 'n' in the name. It has a closed right side, which fits with an 'a' but not an 'e'.

*EDIT* Ah, I see I've been beaten to the punch on both counts.

I still win for deciphering the largest portion of the article :D

I believe the name is Jeremy Bentham. The "a" "e" argument still holds, the image places uncertainty to both letters.

I disagree about the last whole heartedly. The first name, the "e" "o" argument can still hold, but I don't think so about the last name.

Here is what it says.

Hopefully the code tags will hold the fomatting so it lines up.

there are 9 spaces in the name that we can't see.

Jeremy Bentham is too short unless it also has a middle name.

The 'e' is NOT certain. could go either way 'a' or 'e', but Look Jeremy Bentham is a Famous Philosopher according to Wiki.

Why else would the writers chose that name? Comon just think about it!!! Huh?

To me, there IS a Reason the writers gone with all those Philosopher names!

Just like why they choose John Locke, a Philosopher as well, huh?

I think Logically and Common sense POV that 'Jeremy Bentham' Makes the MOST sense here!

Newspaper articles are not monospaced, and they are usually justified, meaning the spacing between letters is different on each line so that the right and left edges line up. The analysis you're doing doesn't pan out.

Wow I go away for an hour or 2 and this Newspaper thing is still going on ...just you wait over the summer Damon and Carlton will mention something about it!!!!

LOL at Hurmoth he does look like G-Man

No, the letter before 'ntham' is NOT an E. Period. Look at the 'e' at the end of the 5th line down, and then look at the letter in question. They don't look alike. You can clearly see the straight line down the right side of the character.

You're right, it might be one or two letters different in each row, however, with the short word of 'New' starting the next line, you can tell how many characters are in the missing space. If it was short, like 'John -antham', the word 'New' would be up another line.

The newspaper is DISTORTED so much, you CAN'T be sure of that. It looks like 'a' but since the Newspaper is distorted, so it's anything but certain! There I said it Twice, let me say it the Third time, It's DISTORTED!

As I said 'John Locke' the name was also a Philospher, so it makes MORE sense this name is a Philosopher name as well.

The writers of the show HAS a history of picking names who are scientists, philosopher, etc!

Your argument only works if we know that the writers did indeed choose the name "Jeremy Bentham". For one, it could be any 'J' name. For two, it's almost certainly 'antham'. Look at this image. I pulled the A's and E's from the right side of the paper (all the letters experience the same 'distortion') and put them all next to each other, along with our mystery letter. E's on the left, A's on the right. I also noted where I pulled the letter from.

post-20217-1180056387.png

Now, which letter does our central letter more closely resemble? The answer is pretty clear. None of the E's have a thick stroke on the right, while all the A's do. And so does the mystery letter. It's an A.

It's a good theory, but it doesn't work.

How would you guys feel about next season being off the island, with flashbacks onto it? It seems like the most logical place to go after the season finale (which basically did that, if you really think about what jack was going through).

I'd kind of be let down if they didn't, because otherwise it was a useless twist.

Jack doesn't have a philosopher's name. Neither do Kate, Hurley, James, Juliet, Mr. Friendly, Tom, Karl, Alex, Sayid, etc etc. You're making a big assumption.

If I remember correct they said that season will be on the island, but not on the island, so take that how you to :p

Actually Sayid is named after a philosopher. Sayid is named after Edward Said, so he could be named after a philosopher that doesn't match as perfectly as what John Locke does.

    • Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is facing a class action lawsuit from shareholders who allege that the company intentionally overhyped its artificial intelligence initiatives to distract from slowing cloud revenue and an exploding infrastructure bill. The complaint was filed in a Seattle federal court by the Michigan-based City of St. Clair Shores Police and Fire Retirement System. The plaintiffs argue that Microsoft’s leadership painted an overly optimistic picture of its Copilot rollout and complex OpenAI partnership. They say that the company did this while downplaying the harsh reality that building the data centers required to power these next-generation tools requires a huge amount of capital. Back at the company's Q2 2026 earnings report from late January, Microsoft revealed that its flagship Azure cloud growth had slipped to 39% (down from 40% the prior quarter) and guided investors to expect a further deceleration to 37% or 38% for the first three months of 2026. Now, under normal circumstances, a slight percentage point drop in cloud growth is a minor operational hiccup. But the Redmond giant paired that guidance with $37.5 billion in quarterly capital expenditures. This figure, which is a 66% year-over-year surge, blew past any analyst estimates at that time. Much of this amount went into buying high-priced GPUs and custom silicon that were required to train and run large language models. This is why the market reacted violently and just a day after its earnings call on January 29, the company's stock plummeted 10%, and wiped out $357 billion of capital in just a trading session. Microsoft is doing better now, though. Its Q3 2026 results showed its run rate from its AI business was hitting $37 billion, proving that enterprise demand for its infrastructure is very real and continuing to scale. Microsoft isn't the only company pouring billions into infrastructure for the AI boom. We've seen most Big Tech companies, including Amazon and Google, also get the results of these **** with stronger-than-ever growth and increased income. via Reuters

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
