This is my concept for a Touch-screen (Tablet, or Wall Panel) Album chooser for the next version of windows. By that time I expect most displays will have some kind of touch or Multi-touch as that seems to be the technology everyone is dribbling over today.

In my Video (yes Video) The finger touch is represented by the White circle, presses are represented by the circle gaining and dropping a shadow. (Yes I did steal the idea from the iPhone Videos on Apple.com)

This is just a quick 30 minute mockup. Background is from some artist I'm not sure which, the icon for the CD is from Vista and the Album art is just my Album art from some music I have. The song that begins to play at the end is displayed in the Video.

And yes this was made on a Mac haha.. I'm sure all the windows designers use Macs :p (I kid I kid)

No doubt ;) But it was only a 30 minute thing to show how a touch screen interface could be done and nicely. Having to keep everything visible at once since with fingers you can't have "Hover over display" like what MCE has today. It's only a quick 30 minute mockup as I said above. No controls or text on it or anything.

For those interested, here's the link to download the PSD for the login screen.

Clicky!

This helps a lot. Honestly, it isn't that hard to implement this into Windows Vista. You would just have to change a few images.

Unforunately, I don't know everything about modding the login screen, so I have to look into it more...

Okay, here is my idea...

With the vertical OR horizontal sidebar, scroll like was said before, but also have like categories that you could switch with the mouse too (buttons). My scroll wheel "tilts" kinda (don't know how to say) left and right and moves the horizontal scrollbar when apparent on a website. Maybe that could change from preset folders or categories like Media Software System Shutdown. My mouse also has the middle click button when pressed down, so that would select the item highlighted. Sorry this isn't described much better.

The pic may help..

Sorry I didn't feel like booting up my Photoshop or Fireworks.. I am really tired. But I knew I would forget this idea if I didn't put it down somewhere.

*It would also be much prettier than my mockup in Paint :p

    • Ridiculous claim that the labor cost difference of $6000 annually would increase cost per phone by $200. The employees produce 3 phones per month or what?

    • And I just bought a seat cushion for my mesh chair. The chair feels nice but the first time I sat in it with boxers, I realized I don't like the feel of mesh on my legs. 😂
