Does anyone have problems restoring their ipod with iTunes 7?

I swear the sound issues are with Quicktime rather than iTunes.

after all the **** with 7, I downgraded to 6 (cleaning all the iTunes folders and such) and had some sound quaility issues. So my conclusion is where I didn't downgrade and that's QT.

I had problems with my 4G iPod being recognized as a corrupted iPod. Then I unplugged and replugged and it was fine. I hope it won't happen anymore. Other than that, man, why are people whining so much.. I haven't noticed a single bug other than that...! I believe it happens on random computers.

Oh cool, thanks for the headsup. This time I'll test it in VMware first though before I put it on my main OS. Don't wanna go through the hassle of uninstalling it and reinstalling version 6 again if the issues are still there in this version. :)

So you go though the hassle of testing it on a virtual machine, which runs slower and doesn't provide iTunes propper access to your audio device.

i was worried about the skipping, i mean i only have 352mb of ram and it runs perfectly, dont use that new album cover browse, simple as that, when i use that the sound is good but it gets really laggy, which is to be expected really.

ever thought that the world extends beyond you and your problems? I would not call the 50 or so lengthy threads on the Apple Official Boards relating to playback issues 'random' problems.

There's still a LOT of room for improvement. Cover Flow gets stuck in between albums sometimes and closing iTunes is still a pain in the rear because of that dumb "Saving iTunes library" dialog. It makes me wonder what iTunes 6 and before was doing then, you know?

Interface is still very sluggish. Sometimes when I play a song and want to switch to a different one, I have to stop the song I'm playing, and then double-click on something else. It's really annoying to say the least.

Oh well, here's to hoping Apple can fix these problems soon.

I don't understand this. When I downloaded iTunes 7, one their program "Apple Software Updates" got installed as well. Then why isn't that program detecting any new updates? It says all my softwares are updated. Hmm....

well, what an awesome update :-\, itunes still takes up 300 megs of ram in cover flow mode, and isn't smooth at all.

yes, and this time it even does it with QuickTime (used to be iTunes only)...

The only way around it for now would be to change the properties to hidden, and you dont see it anymore.

Firefox delays it intentionally to even out the load on their servers, and I'd assume iTunes does the same thing.

Trying to update my iPod (5G).... just says Unknown Error after awhile o_O

Trying to restore it now... waiting to see if that error comes up. It's been atleast 10 minutes though.

I agree. There are signs of improvement, but the skipping and distortion problems are still present.

I got all the sound settings maxed out, and it sounds fine now, better than iTunes 6 when I downgraded.

I did get one sound dodgy-ness, but I don't know if thats a file or iTunes 7 problem that happened as it only happened once (I forgot to check the file again).
