MS Modifies black maximized borders

Recommended Posts

Vista was not exactly a number one example of how to manage a software project. No one is going to debate that point. By one analogy I have heard, working on Vista was like trying to change all four wheels on the car... while you're going 60 mph on the highway.

Yeah I really don't think Vista is a poster child for anything!

IS THE CYAN STRIPE AROUND ACTIVE WINDOWS GONE YET???

What you people haven't even noticed is that all of the "Maximized Color" is changes is just to bring up the hype in yall. The relatively tiny "small" ammount of color they have added to the maximized windows has been there since Build 5600, and it has been tuned up about 4+ more on build 5728, if any; It does NOT show when you use the standard color (that is what they said now at the shell website), but it does show "a little bit more" if you switch to other colors like Frost, Blue, Orange, Pink, etc.

Now whether they are coming up with something really relevant to this if they get to release the pre-RTM build by tomorrow, that is something I do not know. But I am sure these news, aren't that much of a discoverage. What is it that you do when you get the beta builds? Test it? How?.... I see a lot of people who seems to be Beta testers to be asking for these stuff everyday when they're in front of their faces...

Look:

Default-max.PNG

this would be the Default color scheme Maximized.

Now these are the other color schemes available, each one maximized:

Blue-max.PNG

Blue Maximized.

Fros-max.PNG

Frost Maximized.

Graphite-max.PNG

Graphite Maximized.

Orange-max.PNG

Orange Maximized.

Pink-max.PNG

Pink Maximized.

Red-max.PNG

Red Maximized.

Teal-max.PNG

Teal Maximized (my favorite).

Tip:

You can appreciate the color change in the PNGs better if you are using a TrueBright? CrystalClear Display, like those in VAIO LCDs or HP Compaqs V2000 and up; I've noticed that it depends on your display; so for some people it might look black if your brightness is too low or under 50%, contrast, etc...

Also this is what I was reffering to in a thread which I forgot to reply back to whoever asked me how; there you go my friend...

well thats true, but they did update it and it looks a whole lot better:

..here is a picture showing what the default window colors look like maximized. Note that none of the default colors are particular saturated. If you make a really saturated color, the blackness is even more reduced.

Still there, though its very small...

aside from the issue from whether they should have changed it or not..

i really really find it weird people are saying 'i dont like black; i want it the color i want, etc'. black is a basic color, like white. its not like they're forcing you to make it hot pink, forest green, or bright orange. when things are black, it does not make it look goth. its a basic color, ok--black, white, gray. when you used DOS, the background was always black. ok, its just really weird.

and at least they made the black in vista glossy. they could have made it just a solid black. now that will b:x:x

the glossy part makes it look fresh and new.

they might not be able to design a better interface, but there's way more people disliking the new UI compared to those who like it. so obviously there is an issue, i dont remember people complaining about XP this much.

Oh yeah? There are millions of people using Vista. You've maybe seen a few thousand (probably much less) complaining about the new UI. Well guess what, people won't come on the net to say "OMG The new Vista UI Rox my sox!!!111Oneoneone", but rather rant about the small things (or big things) that they don't like about it.

but did people complain about luna? ( I complain about it now, it looks so childish )

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
    • I have been using Firefox for years.
    • I'd trust open source stuff on github more then closed source binaries from Microsoft.
