Roger H. Veteran Posted October 13, 2006 Veteran Share Posted October 13, 2006 (edited) Dude totally sweet.. i was having synchronization issues when i play MPEG4 (divx/xvid) on my laptop (IBM Thinkpad T41) with all the default drivers. The CPU usage was waaay high anyways, like 90% for a 1.7GHz Pentium M CPU. Now with the link from above now i get to watch shows full screen again and only using 50-60% CPU with "HD" video and 5.1 AC3 Encoding. Which i guess is still high i gotta play with the settings i guess but at least the audio and video are now synced in full screen and i can actually USE full screen! With "HD" video and regular MPG audio it's only like 20-30% CPU usage. Weird tho, i know it's beta but sometimes when i exit full screen it still crashes! Oh well.... Edited October 13, 2006 by SHoTTa35
McoreD
Well, i got the very same Problem, but i identified what it caused. I bet all of you having this issue had Nero 7 or at least Nerolite 7 installed?! I made a clean install of Vista and everything worked, i then tried playing video files step by step after each installation of the programs i usually install. After installing Nero Lite 7.5.11 the Error occured. I uninstallted it, and the error was gone. I identified the Video/SuperVideo CD functionality in Nero to be the "bad boy". I did install Nero Lite 7.5.1.1 again without the plugin and voilla, everything's fine. Using standard xvid codec and so on, no more COM Surrogate popups. Omg, uninstalling Nero Lite and removing a broken install of Nero 7 Premium using Nero Clean Tool, helped. Thanks nEUTRon!
Cold Blood
yeah it's definitely video files, but it only seems to be video files that play in media player because I have lots of MP4 files that play in quicktime, and don't get the error with those. That's what happens to me when I watch a movie in media player but everything seems to me working just fine if I try another player, mplayer or anything else . EcPercy
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/thread/136935.aspx http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow...27.exe?download downloading that codec has fixed it for me. I have also uninstalled the xvid codec just to make sure. can now open folders and it will create thumbnails without causing the crash Thanks for the tip! I was wondering what was causing this on my storage drive. Turned out I had two .avi files on the root of the drive that were not getting the thumbnail generated. Installed FFDSHOW and now everything is back to normal.
aptiaa
I fixed it by doing the following... My personal problem was with Nero, so this is the fix. You can use FFDShow instead of Divx and for Nero you can rename NeVideo.ax in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\ Just rename that file and try to preview files again. Let me know if it worked.
jshaker
Thanks a lot for your help. I have a sound blaster card and a Realtek and I had the problem. Also, I had DivX 6.4 and Nero 7. I just renamed the file NeVideo.ax to Nevideo.a_ and it fixed my problem. So make it! Just rename NeVideo.ax to something else as (NeVideo.a_) in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\ And it works.

Chris Allen Veteran Posted January 1, 2007 Veteran Share Posted January 1, 2007 I fixed the problem: went back to XP. The issue with me wasn't DivX, it was with the new version of Nero. Installing an earlier version worked just fine.
