When I first heard about Ledger being the Joker I definitely had my doubts, but after seeing his perfromance, I was nothing short of amazed. I can't see anyone else playing the Joker in a better way, even Nicholson.

Was it because he played a gay cowboy in his previous movies?

I for one never underestimate an actor/actress for what they can do before they do it. That, and I had 100% trust in Nolan. He has a eye for that. Except for Gyllenhal.

I think Ledger is getting more credit than he deserves, just because he's dead. Boohoo, he's dead. Lets fcking get over it; His performance wasn't "GROUNDBREAKINGLY AMAZING". It was good, but it would have been with anyone that played the role. And if that guy was dead, his performance would have been 'AMAZING' too.

I agree to a certain degree. Some say the Oscar people are wrong if they have him winning. Well, they're hardcore comic book movie geeks & will only watch those. Forgetting any other good movies & performances. The Internet does have a big part in the hype also. But man, I thought Heath was great. He should at least be nominated. If so, he'll probably win it anyways. Just to make 80% of the people happy.

Just got back, where to begin...

Ledger made the movie. Absolutely no ifs, ands, or buts about that. His performance was incredible. Not a single one of his peers could have done it better. It is truly all I thought about it when driving home, and I just could not think of a single actor his age that could have even come close to his performance. The world did indeed lose an incredible talent.

I obviously knew where things were going to go anyway with Dent as I read the comics growing up, but I still do applaud them for not giving it away. They really did a great job of not revealing to much in the trailers, etc. I am so happy they did that, as most "blockbusters" the trailers gives away the majority of the plot.

An absolutely fantastic movie, but unfortunately all I kept saying to myself is I cannot wait until this is released on Blu Ray so I can really enjoy it.

I was getting a little restless, I guess I truly am getting old but after two hours my back really started killing me, but that was not even why. I was in a packed theater (as we all where LOL) with a lot of stupid young kids who insisted on talking throughout the movie even when I told them to pipe down (and yes, I really did LOL). What was even more frustrating was they were laughing at the scenes they were not supposed to be laughing it (for example they found it hilarious when a group of guys was tied around a pole because they were in their underwear). yet they barely were laughing when they should have, for example when Ledger was executing unbelievably dark subtle humor.

Yeah. Best Movie this year. Perhaps the best movie in the last couple of years. It has yet to truly sink in yet.

And sanctified or someone else, I am completely drawing a blank, can you refresh my mind as to which one was the "look at me" scene? I have an idea, but I want to be sure.

With all of that said, and again I think he was absolutely amazing, but I do have to question if he did not die, would there be all of this Oscar talk, and instead would it have just been "Ledger Was Absolutely Brilliant and Amazing."

That is just me being the cynic I am, but I do believe at this stage in society, Internet Buzz is perhaps the most influential force in society, so it is me questioning society, as after-all, I believe that was indirectly actually one of the underlying themes of the movie itself.

I did watch. He did a good job, but if you think about it, if he wasn't dead, you still think he would have gotten the same HUGE fan base that he has now? No.

I would say yes. This is probably Ledger's best performance after his performance in Brookback Mountain.

Fantastic film, I agree with many of the reviews, Ledgers best performance. He played the psychopathic joker very well. If the first batman showed the audience the psychology of a hero, the second batman defiantly showed the psychology of a villain. The moral of the story, "Never underestimate the mind of a psychopath."

Agreed. I thought Gyllenhal was the worst pick out of the cast. I think Holmes actually did a far better job in Begins.

Funny you say that because so many people here kept talking about how bad Holmes was and how great of an actress Gyllenhal is.

Admittedly, I definitely missed Holmes in this. When Rachael died, it didn't do anything for me really. Probably because we already believe Holmes as Rachael before. No matter how young or bad of an actress she is. In TDK, we've just began believing Maggie was the same old Rachael. Maggie didn't grow onto us in a small amount of time. That's why I hate when actors are replaced. Even a smale role.

The scene where the joker sends a video tape with a guy in a batman suit, at some point in the video the joker screams "look at me!" in a very triifying voice

BTW, I strongly disagree with the claims that Ledger's performance its getting too much credit because he is dead, in fact by the contrary I think a lot of people will try to downplay it because of that. The way we evaluate the performance will be forever clouded by his death. I saw the movie with a lot of enthusiasm but also in an objective way. It has its flaws, like every movie, but I didnt see any major ones, generally the movie its maybe the best directing effort by Nolan and as an actor it was an acting class by Ledger.

Of course, its my humble opinion.

Heath Ledget totally made the movie.

i really didnt care too much when i heard he died, firstly because people die all the time and he choose to do the drugs, and.... because i havnt seen much of his movies, or the ones ive seen were 'phenomenal'.

But his performance in this movie was flawless.

and it really sucks that we wont get to see anymore of them now =\

he nailed the jokers character perfectly.

obviously he shouldnt just win awards because he died, but i dont think you could do that if they gave him tons and tons of awards.

anything he wins he totally deserves.

give him female actress of the year and he deserves it ;]

WOW, Stupid kids.

YES!!!

A Great performance IS a Great performance, no matter what.

His death has NOTHING to do with that, at all!

I was especially skeptical of his performance, myself, but was VERY Impressed!

Bale Acted great, too. And, he isn't dead. So, good performances has nothing to do with death as you seem to imply it has something to do with it!!!
