I shoulda got a newcastle core, they OC so nice.

And you shoulda got a socket 939, man thats low ram bandwidth, for such quality ram u have, scoring nearly 4gbs in single channel and all.

~edit Sif use jpg on low quality setting :p

Had a play with the settings again tonight, 2.55 is stable but only up to 52C

gonna need a new cooler for that.

and i had a play with the ram timings.

upped the dram volt to 2.6 and changed the ram timings to 2-3-2-6-8

so its same cpu speed but the ram now scores 5206 mb/s ( a whole GB/sec more !!! ) in both scores in sandra, i havent jpged it coz its only day 1, i want atleast a few days stability before ile bench it again and screenshot it.

I guess my ram aint so **** after all, but its still **** in any case LOL .. yay now itle crash on me after i click Add reply just for insulting my ram LOL

Well it might have something to do with your mobo as well, but DDR is likely a good reason why your OC isn't as good as it could be. You should be able to get 5K easily with your 939, hitting 7K would take some doing...just as 5K is possible for mine, just takes a little work. ;)

and no, you were right, the Winchester core is a slightly better core. So you made a good choice. (Y)

samoa itd be inpossible for my ram to hit 7gb/s

ide need like 3.5 gb/s per chip for that pc2700 usually maxes at about 2.5 gb/s, my ram would start crashing if i tighten the timings more or up the clock at current timings, you need to strike a balance between clock and timings, u cant take either to extremes.

i loosened the timings alot and set the divider for 266mhz memory when i tried to OC my chip more, the ram was only at 355mhz, at loos timings i could hit 380mhz before trouble. my cpu physicly wont pass super PI at anything over 2.55 ghz and even at 2.55 i need to keep it below that 53C mark.

Ime gonna let it be, gonna buy a better cooler and put it on so the chip runs cooler, but ime gonna settle on 2.5ghz 1.675 V and the memory at current settings spewing a hefty 5.2gb/s

Ide say all in all, ive got a fine set of performance stats, a fine gamers machine =D

After the cooler, ile wait till i really need it, ile get a 6800gt. then when i really need it, better ram.

^ I was saying if you buy better DDR you'd get better results. ;) I already recognize that you are pushing your current DDR to it's limits. Better Cooling at this point isn't what you should be looking at, it's better DDR. Patriot XBL PC3200 Dual Kit would do you nicely  400 to 533 garranteed (2-2-2-5 to 3-4-4-9). Many people have hit 560+ with it. even just 520FSB is stable with 2.5-3-3-7 :D

yeh, since i cant get anymore mhz out of my chip, i should concentrate on more pressing matters

Like when i ripped another 1.2gb/s out of my ram, i noticed a pretty nice speed boost :D

maybe next week i can buy PC 4000, ile have alot of money, sortof

I know ur saying this patriot XBL can OC 133mhz, but just what kind of gaurentee is there this will be the same in my case ?

Well... I've done it a 1Ghz overclock on an AMD, islanq you've met your match :p

Got my A64 3000+ Winchester from 1.8Ghz to 2.8Ghz havent primed it yet, but it all seems stable. Droppoed the multiplier from 9 down to 8.5 and pushed the FSB up to 330 (thats up from the original 200 :o)

Now all I need is good memory so I can get this rig running at top perfomance... DDR600 will be needed though, and that will cost a fair bit :/

everyone who bought it has gotten that kind of performance from it. Read a review on it.

not really, others have gotten a max of 2.6ghz with 1.65 volts.

luck of the draw, and i got a pretty bad chip.

Ime not doing anything wrong, i just cant oc more than this.

Since were listing our mobile ocs

palmoc.jpg

the benchmark tool shows the current unit at 100% as a reference, and the bottom most is " this unit "

it scores a 101% speed overclock :woot:

almost as fast as a visor platinum :D

Afterburner hack does wonders.

~Edit i noticed it looks like the screen is broken at the top, its not... its the reflection of the roof lights

^ you have a nice cpu coolmonk. I think mine gets a little better per clock cyle though.  ..Really nice OC you have though (Y)

Thanks man. I went through three 3200+ before finally getting this one. It's insane though isn't it? 790MHz overclock on air and my idle temps are barely breaking 35C! Man I love these Winnies!

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
