First Halo 3 multiplayer screens from Swedish Mag

Recommended Posts

^^^ I second the motion. I LOVED Hang 'Em High...

For all those that say these are renders... what makes you honestly think that? They don't even look that 'jaw-dropping' if you ask me. But I know the final game will look damn good, Bungie always delivers... just look at Halo 1 and Halo 2, both arguably the best looking games (graphically) of their time.

EDIT: lawl, looks like Bungie's servers are being overloaded... I can't access their site (bungie.net)

If mgs comes to the xbox360 then I will get one instead of a ps3

I have nothing against the PS3 but $600 for a console its just too much for a third world country citizen like me.

Not just cinematic shots...

Giga, I wasn't saying they were screenshots from cinematics in the game. I was implying that's why they use those camera angles and remove the HUD -- to give them a cinematic look.

taken from Neogaf.

I'd say it's quite a difference give or take a few for an alpha game with placeholder texture/weather/other effects off. Not to mention we're judging this on ugly magazine scans.

You know Halo 2 doesn't look this good.

MC has a lot more detail:

Looks better than Coagulation:

Midship isn't near the quality of this(the magazine seemed to photoshop the warthog in this pic btw):

Most important of all, these will be rendered in 720p/1080i(p). It's by far the largest difference between Halo 2's 480p.

I knew I shouldn't have said anything to rile the Halo fanboys

And it's nice of you to use a dated Halo picture (not even from the final build from the looks of it) for comparison.

He was comparing "alpha stage" to "alpha stage". :|

Indirectly calling me a fanboy?

And no, that wasn't a dated shot. Nov 7, 2004. Gamespot: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/halo2/...dex.html?page=8

no comments here, everytime I say something it seems like a "go for it" signal for some people to go all out hunting Spartans...  :p

so, this time not teasing, no clues, no nothing... just believe what you want to believe...

Looking good, can't wait to see some direct-feed screens and videos. Glad to see that the Mongoose is back. :D

Not so much MGS4, but that's because of the horrendous environmental textures in the last screenshots we saw

Placeholder textures.

Looks like theres going to be a lot of Halo 3 content being released next month at 1UP, including single player details.

Giga, I wasn't indirectly calling you a fanboy. I was directly calling you one. I haven't even said anything remotely bad about Halo 3 and you're getting your panties in a knot in the assumption that I'm bad mouthing it. All I said was that it doesn't look like a big leap from Halo 2 graphics thus far, but I acknowledged that it's early and that there are still place holding graphics. Don't get in a tissy about it.

Halo PC: (Since we should really be comparing the PC version to this since the resolutions are more similar than comparing Halo 3 to Halo 1 on XBox)

Halo 3:

See entire thread.

Sorry, but again... I don't see as big of a graphical leap as you would expect from a next-generation console title; especially a next-gen console title that everyone's claiming will have some of the best graphics ever.

magik, please read my post again more clearly: I never said there wasn't a difference. That much is clear. I said it wasn't a drastic difference and that it wasn't as good as you would expect to see from a game of Halo 3's hype. I'm still waiting to see those trailer graphics, bud. Newsflash: just like I said, those won't happen and never will.

So you're willing to 'debunk' the graphics quality of the trailer on an alpha-version of scans of a magazine?

... ah, well, patience is a virtue. Don't worry, I still have our beloved discussion bookmarked. :)

No, I'm not. I'm just reiterating that graphics of that quality will not occur in Halo 3. I stand by that statement proudly. If those graphics were so possible, why aren't they there right now since they already developed them? Because, as I already said -- the tech demo was missing A.I. and physics. Halo 3 won't look that good. That's a promise.

And you can't honestly tell me you wouldn't have responded the same way if the graphics looked great.

I myself said they don't look that great. It's not a secret. It's also not a secret that this is a very early build. It's also not a secret that Halo 3 will look like the trailer. That is a fact.

Yeah dude I totally agree with you! It'll be like when the first Halo 2 drop ship vid was released!..... Oh wait... Well at least it was like that E3 2003 level set in the city!... ok maybe not that either. Stop going off fanboy emotion and think about that your saying.

I don't see why not, Gears of War looks as good as the E3 trailer did, and people were able to control Master Chief backstage (Gamespot etc if I recall correctly). You promising means nothing.

ok girls show is over, time to settle down.

go have a cup of tea and retouch your makeup before you two start losing your glamour...  :p

Well said mate..

Can't we just keep this topic on Halo 3, and it's new developments, instead of comparing it with old stuff..?

They better concentrate more on the gameplay (single one at that) then the bloody graphics. I want a game that takes some skill to play unlike the ###### autoaiming noobfest that Halo 2 turned out to be.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
