Their victim turned out to be former British light-middleweight amateur boxing champion George Bayliss, 67. Mr Bayliss, a former Army unarmed combat trainer who won a light-middleweight Amateur Boxing Association senior title 40 years ago, reacted by throwing a left hook and the gang ran off.
