Has anyone else noticed how different coke can taste depending on where you get it?

I don't mean the difference between coke in the UK and coke in Italy or something, I don't even mean the individual regions in the UK.

Well, not quite.

Firstly, I have to admit that I drink a lot of coke, probably around 5 cans a day on average. Sometimes more, sometimes less, it all just depends.

Originally I'm from Ireland and the coke there was generally quite nice. Then I moved to Liverpool, England, for University and immediately I noticed the coke tasted very different.

Now that I could attribute to a supply, this coke was canned/bottled in Uxbridge (as is most of the coke in England as far as I can tell), so that's ok.

But even different batches from the same place tastes completely different. Bottled coke, canned coke and tapped (like in a Pub) coke taste completely different from each other too, which I find odd.

The worst offender is the bottled coke they release at around Christmas time (with a Santa clause label), it tastes absolutely HORRIBLE. Particularly does coke from little corner shops (cans from the likes of Tesco or Iceland tend to taste much nicer) and vending machines.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

All of the cans/bottles I've tasted around here all say they're from Uxbridge, but some can taste completely different. Sometimes the difference in taste is noticeable even from the same case.

I do drink a lot of coke though so I'm quite accustomed to the taste, in fact during the summer I was able to win a bet with my brother by tasting different samples of coke and being able to say if they were bottled or canned, or if they were uxbridge or foreign lol

But still, this is annoying me as I do like my coke a lot (can't stand pepsi) but it's becoming hit and miss with the taste of some of the cans.

The only differences I've noticed are from Bottle, Canned, and a Soda Fountain. I've never noticed a difference between can to can or bottle to bottle. Also have noticed a difference from Soda Fountain to Soda Fountain as that's mixed with water and what not.

Any soda warm isn't good. For me, I generally go for Pepsi products, but when it comes to Coke, I don't really like it unless it's got ice in it. I dunno what it is about ice being in it, but it just makes it better. (Note, I'm distinguishing between just being cold, and having ice in it. I dislike Coke w/o ice no matter what the temp is).

Same here. Maybe its cuz im in America?

its the same all over the world

No it is not. Soda companies have different recipes for different part of the world. A perfect example is Sprite in the US and Sprint in Mexico. The Mexican Sprint is not near as fizzy and a lot more syrupy in taste.

I have a buddy that collects Coke products from all over the world and he has collected Coke from around 12 different countries and they all tasted different from each other.

Believe me, soft drinks taste very different all around the world. The coke I've had in Italy, as well as some from Poland and Canada, all taste very different from each other and none of them taste like the coke from the UK.

i worded it wrong i ment all pops are affected the same way they do tasted diffrtent from contry to contry. people taste the diffrence much like u have

Soft drinks are very different around the world. As one person alluded to already, Mexican bottled coke products are much more sweeter, why? Because they don't have to answer to a US congress and their special interest groups worried about child health problems.

I may be bleed red white n blue, but god i love imported soft drinks, that stuff rocks!

are we talking about cola or "Coke-Cola"

coke-cola... hence the coke in the title.

and i notice different tastes in canned and bottled. i'd rather drink out of a glass from the 2L bottles... with ice ;) and canned... i don't know to me it tastes a lot different than the bottled ones. i'd prefer bottled over canned. though i'd still drink it from a can. hehe.

Coke also tastes differnt at plcaes like burger king and Mc donalds caus ethey get the syrup and there is a bottle of CO2 andwater that get mixed with the syrup.

And I have also heard what someone mentioned about corn syrup fructose or something being Used in USa whereas other places use sugar.

MEh I sure could go for a cold glass right now.

edit*

Is it me or do other people like the taste of "flat" soft drinks (ie. you shake the bottle and get rid of the CO2 so the drink becomes "flat" no fizzyness.)?

I can drink like 3 or four bottles of coke in an hour if they are flat.

This is true. Living in Southern California, it's easy to find Mexican imported sodas. "Sangria Pe?afiel" and "Sidral Mundet" beat anything I've ever tasted.

The only difference I've noticed in Coke is between bottled, canned, and that which you get at restaurants. Bottling, transportation, and storage (aside from the recipe) are the biggest factors as far varying taste is concerned.

According to Co_Co the great coke observer and connoisseur

-Coke in the can tastes more tinny because its in metal.

-Coke in the glass bottles rock my world

-Coke in the plastic bottles are probably second best along with fountain cokes

-Coke at passover is 2-3x more fizzy and always bubbles over and spills and tastes absolutely terrible.

-Coke intravenously is what I'm waiting for

    • Save 35% on Sony's SS-CS5M2 3-way high-res bookshelf speakers by Taras Buria Sony is currently offering a big discount on its SS-CS5M2 bookshelf speaker, saving you 35% on a set of high-quality audio equipment. The SS-CS5M2 is a passive 3-way bookshelf speaker with a 5.12-inch woofer, a 25 mm soft-dome tweeter, and a 19 mm super tweeter. This design allows different drivers to handle different parts of the sound spectrum for a clearer, more detailed audio when watching movies or listening to music. The compact cabinet size allows you to place these speakers on shelves, desks, or stands, making them a practical choice for apartments, bedrooms, and small living rooms. Despite its compact size, the SS-CS5M2 delivers up to 100 W of power. Note that since the speakers are passive, you will need an amplifier to drive them. However, if you do, you can use them for high-resolution music, thanks to a claimed frequency response of 53 Hz - 50 kHz. It is able to extend so far high in the spectrum as a result of those super tweeters. While they will work with most amplifiers and AV receivers, Sony says this pair is a perfect match for its AV receivers, such as STRDH190, 590, 790, or 1000. • So they somehow expect Apple to easily make it so that if I install say DeepSeek that DS can then handle all the tasks that Siri would be doing while integrated in the OS? That sounds like just rediculous.

Yes. AMD has better support Linux than does NVIDIA. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall NVIDIA's drivers before installing AMD's drivers. That's up to you.
