Mac OS X 'Leopard'-related Discussion

Recommended Posts

but what else could it be? really leopard? at lest the date of shipping? doubt it... we will see.

Leopard announcement and ship date confirmed. Plus pre-ordering from the Stores. Maybe some MB and Mac mini announcements too.

I'm ordering Leopard at this moment :D

115 CAD with Education rebate. A little more expensive than Tiger with the same rebate... but it's still 12%.

Edit : What happened to the anti-phishing filter on Safari? It seemed to work well in older builds... and it's not listed as a new feature now...

Nice.

definately. =)

im gonna be at the maxpo cologne this year and will see if i can get a copy right there, otherwise ill check out gravis the same day.

these two weeks dont count anymore, after all the waiting. :) great its there. man... so looking forward to it.

=)

good to see it coming along, if only could give it a whirl myself. can't say i'm a fan of the bending text of the dock but that's about only gripe i'd have with it at all if any that i've seen from screen shots.

i just bought a MBP back in august and this might be a n00b question. but do you think when I install Leopard I need to do a clean install and delete everything I currently have or do you think it's possible where it just gets upgraded? cuz I really have alot of stuff on my MBP and dont have a spare drive to store all these things. thanks.

Ah, that infamous pre-Apple-release excitement is starting to set in. :D

Based on what I've seen on Apple's site, my initial impressions of Leopard are:

  • Strange that Address Book can synchronise with Yahoo but not Google (Gmail)
  • Automator finally seems to have some decent purpose - a lack of developer support really crippled it in Tiger
  • It's a real shame Apple weren't able to implement full NTFS support for Boot Camp
  • I'm disappointed that Dashboard is more or less the same
  • I'm still not a fan of the new UI - it's an improvement, but seems too much like Aqua 1.5
  • Stacks are going to relieve me of a great deal of claustrophobia-related stress
  • Japanese-English support in Dictionary is neat
  • I really like the new additions in DVD Player
  • They finally FFTF!!
  • Front Row has (yet another) new icon
  • Lack of YouTube support in Front Row seems odd
  • I'm so happy Apple updated Front Row's overweight UI
  • Mail 3 is a great update but I still don't see why it needs RSS
  • Preview has gained some basic editing functionality... nice!
  • I hope the changes to Leopard's printing features make it easier to connect to my Vista-shared printer
  • What happened to Mail and Safari's anti-phishing features?!
  • Spaces seems more and more practical and useful each time I think about it
  • TextEdit has gained autosave... why hasn't Pages?!

Oh, and Apple hire brilliant web designers.

Overall, I'm really impressed. :) Too bad I'm broke.

    • WordArt was cool. We now have color fonts as a substitute although Word only supports COLRv0 and COLRv1 (Fraud OS 11 only). The OpenType SVG color font format needs to be supported by Office. Adobe's apps support it
