Mac OS X 'Leopard'-related Discussion

Recommended Posts

yea right... really necessary to have yet another topic about that? ;)

pretty much sucks to always look at 2 topics. ;)

plus after all the years and posts and pages i think the original leopard-topic deserves to be the official one, even after the release. ;)

i don't know if this has been discussed, but i am not about to comb through 70 pages to find it... that's just crazy.

i was wondering if it's fine (as in performance and problems) to just do an upgrade instead of fresh install. if used as an upgrade, what are the downside to it?

rather curious because i would rather not deal with the whole backing up hdd, etc to update the OS.

Firstly. BACKUP. If you don't and the upgrade gets botched you might be left with an unbootable system. Once backed up. Do an Archive and Install OR make a bootable backup to an external drive. Install Leopard on your internal drive erasing it in the process then when in Leopard using the Migration Assistant to transfer over your information from your backup.

Anyone here who has a Mac that didn't make the Minimum specifications? (Curious if we still have any < 800MHz G4 or < 512MB RAM users)

I have an 800MHz G4 iBook, It's in my moms possession now. Even if the installer gets modified to allow installing on less than 866MHz machines, 10.4.11 will be it's last OS.

Do the Adobe CS3 apps work with Leopard?

They work but are known to have some problems. PM me reminding me and I'll test them for you, probably on the 26th unless I get it later.

I forget... Did Adobe say they would patch it or did they say we'll fix it in CS4?

I'm looking forward to Think Secret's image gallery. Should clear up a few of my questions, the biggest one being the final fate of Leopard scroll bars.

I'd have to agree with that comment. Apple's current shots still show the Finder with the Aqua scrollbars, which doesn't exactly bode well....but we'll see I guess.

a friend has an old ibook g4 that i am going to put it on, i wanna see how it runs on that. had 512 ram too

Same here through MSDNAA. (though it's not limited to CS majors, just students taking a CS course)

Sad thing is, I don't dare touch either of the software. :x

yeah we get access to that at school. It's great what you get for free :)
