PL_ Veteran Posted December 19, 2006 Veteran Share Posted December 19, 2006 Ice cooling! You have a block of ice wrapped in a thin metal which allows heat to travel through, strapped to the CPU, like a heatsink. You then have a cooling system, much like in a freezer! Lower temp Silent No leaks Easier to manage What's missing in my genius idea? :D

jimbo11883
The block of ice in the metal will melt and you'll need another one in a half an hour.

PL_ Veteran Posted December 19, 2006 Author Veteran Share Posted December 19, 2006 No, you have a cooling system, like you get in a freezer, to regulate the temperature of the ice (Y)

qdave
whats missing is that metal will have water condensation, as well as the ice melting problem :D

Quick Shot
If it was dry ice, then would my idea work? well dry ice is −78.5?C it's carbon dioxide in it's solid state here's all the info about it. http://www.answers.com/dry+ice&r=
PL_ Veteran Posted December 19, 2006 Author Veteran Share Posted December 19, 2006 So why do you need the ice? Uhh...well...hmm... So the freezer has a friend? But if you didn't have the ice, the air could escape easier. well dry ice is −78.5?C it's carbon dioxide in it's solid state here's all the info about it. http://www.answers.com/dry+ice&r=67 Looks like I need a bigger freezing thingy:||

Badtz-Maru
bad idea. the way you're describing it-- there'll be condensation, and your CPU will be screwed, unless its like the uber ones at xtremesystems.org with uber insulation
