Wtf are you on about? rapidshare.de closed months ago and opened up rapidshare.com then as well. Why are you posting 3 or 4 month old news?

rapidshare.com is brilliant, i'll never use anything else. I have a premium account which i can extend whenever i wan't depending on the amout i upload.

Its awful. The rare times ive been forced to use it, it either lies and states ive downloaded too much. OR just refuses to give me the file until ive bought an account.

Much better alternatives out there.

I prefer to stay away from file-upload sites (for large files) since they don't allow you to use download managers

(I need to due to an unstable international connection - downloads love to time out for me)

When I see a site using one of the common file-upload sites, its either find another source or go bye-bye

So this doesn't bother me.

And as for premium only to upload, well I imagine that running rapidshare isn't cheap, and income from ads wouldn't cover all expenses.

I work for and use File Factory (www.filefactory.com). It's great since you can actually get paid if you host really popular files and share them.. Not going to plug it just letting people know it's their too. Although you can't yet use download managers for it (That i am aware of) we are currently developing our own Download Manager for use on our servers as well as other files and such.
