Iono if this is just me, but I was having problems entering the answer into "seven card monte" ... at first, it would give me the message at the top right "OTHER" in bold white, kept reading in the forums saying logging out and back in would make it work, yet it didn't work - actually now, "OTHER" does not appear anymore, but nothing happens when I enter the answer in. If I go to another mystery, I can solve it and i get points - yet when I go back to monte, it fails to allow me to win it... any suggestions?

oh man that ****es me off so bad

i was the one that started the postcards one and gave everyone the first 3 names

i even figured out that it was coins and was about to google some stuff for it but i had to go to work :(

that was 6 hours ago

@#$&%\

next box opening nothing will get in my way

congratz on figuring them out. now i think im going to go cry in my corner :$

Chill, Hawk. Chill. Many of us knew the first (Copperfield was easy) and were able to independently come up with Thurston, Kolta & Houdini (I even found a picture of him and the elephant!).

In this type of thing, we each will have moments of brilliant perception & others where we need the help of new eyes to figure something out (like with the Cup & Balls, when we were stumped until Crimsonhead figured it out).

Pat yourself on the back, Hawk. You and all of the Neowin Team deserve a world of credit, and I bet that Loki, Microsoft, AMD & 42Entertainment are very surprised at how quickly we have come in such a short time.

I think next week is going to be history based (quad. major....physics,stage arts, history, folklore) titles for puzzle boxes: time passes, magic happens, memories fade, people disappear

If it is history based then perhaps that is where the reference to the book "Herodotus - The Histories" in the first video comes into play.

yeah I found a david nixon but compared with the others on the list the guy was nobody.

and these guys from 42e changed the picture on a rush, it doesn't have the same old/sepia

effect like the others, it seems more like a snafu of some sort.

Ahem... I believe I was the one that figured out the similarity with the spaces being the amount of letters in each one AND the CLOCKS in the skywriting .. not to mention the fact that I pined for Henning when everyone else was thinking it was Houdini.. but you don't see ME looking for gratification from everyone... lol

We all should be given a huge pat on the back for doing all the hard work that everyone else uses to reap the rewards... Personally.. I find reward in the thrill of the chase.. Everyone give yourselves a pat on the back for a great team effort! I know EVERYONE who Googles this topic gets more information from us and the guys over at the UNI site.. than anywhere else...

KUDOS to all.. let's do it again next week!!!

an interesting thing is that it doesn't matter if you use houdini or henning for the third name you get to the same end result.

anyway I agree it was a lot of fun, and I don't think they expected that the puzzles will be resolved so fast

even with missing clues and delay posting the events images.

Cheers

Not sure but I think there may be some other clues for something in the video, I figure when she says you sawed a women in half that means we figured out her true identity by breaking the initials in half LOKI LO= Lorelei KI= Kitsune...

But I also noticed on the video she has her wand if you pause it when it shows it you notice the chair she's sitting on with the wand there but no legs or feet just thinking this might mean something maybe represent a clue or shape.. just thought I'd shoot it out there see what ya's think....

i actually said something on the irc first but ur right we all helped each other out

and by the way if anyone is still tryin to figure out the train one, it happened in new york and before 1965.

ya i think they should make them harder

Phoenix clues were finally posted. http://www.vanishingpointgame.com/skyType.htm Too bad it was too late to mean anything.

I bet they had to scramble and do that in LA. Blue sky was in very short supply here in Phoenix today. Also the sky writing style was definately Southern California. I remember seeing that type all the time while going to school just outside LA in the 80's-early 90's.

imho there are a couple of clues on the new video:

- "2 weeks", what remains in the game

- ".. I'll give you your watch back" , on the first video she puts 4 watches in a box but keeps one in her

hands, also on the 2nd video she is playing with it

- doors, name plates

- book swaps

....

Cheers

Hi,

Mhh strange. For what did we use the train before that change?

Furthermore, someone mentioned that the 4*9 white boxes form an 6x6 grid. I played a little bit with Photoshop, interpolated the missing tiles and got this... Anyone recognises this shield as a escutcheon for some town?

Greetings,

eXile.

The one thing that comes to mind seeing these images is the word featherweight.

Well, doing some live searching I've found the most common meanings of the anchor, feathers and shield symbols. (as suggested by some historians)

  • Anchor = Hope

  • Feathers = Obedience & Serenity

  • Shield = Defender of..

The unlocking of the 4th puzzle box at the Seattle event on the 27th is a 4 hour drive from where I am. I may just take a drive down to check it out. Is anyone else planning and able to attend one of these events?

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with ad blockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Samsung Browser'. It has very little bloat and is a nice-looking web browser with an inbuilt 'Ad blocker'. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. This browser can also install Chrome extensions. I have a system wide Ad blocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the web browser, but over the whole system. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt ad blocker because of that.
