Hello Everyone,

I've been away from the forum for the past 3 or 4 days because I have been programming a Vista Sidebar Gadget for the Vanishing Point Countdown !

Two days left ooofff just in time. Get it before Microsoft gets around to publishing it on Live.com

Download from my servers. Sorry for the IP and no domain name. My DNS is a bit off as I have configured two websites using Host Headers and well it's a long story.

I will try to get a Live.com version and a web version berfore Saturday but no promises as time is running out.

Best Regards,

Richard

The steam machine image doesn't look at all as far as I know to any of the designs James Watt put together, some folks were able to find that the image looks closer to a Wachs Steam Engine.

The image given in the puzzle seems to be taken directly from here. I suspect many of the inventions would be unrecognizable if they had gone with accurate depictions of the first models.

Wow good catch !! one of the images looks exactly as the one shown in the mural before

filters to add some effects.

We have missed something big. In the main game page after clicking on

puzzle box 2 the following text appears above and to the right of Magic happens...

"Keep your eyes on these countdowns for changes."

The text letters are made of multiple clickable segments.

Not only is each letter clickable, each of the multiple segments that make up each letter is individually clickable. Zoom the flash and the browser both to see them better. Some of the individual segments are like the white box segments and can probably be fitted together to form something.

Get cracking guys!

"Keep your eyes on these countdowns for changes."

I think they simply new that some of the events might have gotten cancelled. They probably had some idea that the TX air event might get cancelled.... They may have even thought that they might have to move the times if the sky wasn't right in enough places that day.

I could be wrong.

ok, just something else i noticed on vanishingpointgame.com (again this is useless, but seeing as nobody else has posted...). The green glow on the last box is a lot larger/noticeable than the previous three boxes.

its just a mere indicator that this is the last puzzle box and is the last part of the game.

nothing more than looks

Imagine this Loki girl works in like...McDonalds...they just hired her off the books to talk gibberish in front of a camera. lol

Is the vanishingpointgame site working OK - not able to caonnect to it since last night - just sits waiting - not even a 404 error - odd !

I noticed this morning that the site was too slow, I didn't check if it's the main server or

akamai's edge suite (assets.vanishingpointgame.com).

May be some follks are trying to attack/hack the servers ...

Cheers

What I failed to mention was that my printer busted just the day before I found the invite, so I couldn't print it.

Could someone do me a huge, HUGE, favor and scan the invite for me. I'd owe you big time. Then just PM me and I'll give my email address.

I would really appreciate it if someone could do this for me.

    • I think the car analogy is more this: Left hand drive, basic commands on the left side of the infotainment screen. Right hand drive, basic commands on the right side of the infotainment screen. Granted, you're not swapping between the two often so it's doesn't really work. But it's to do with the proximity of you (your mouse, or the driver) to the controls.
    • I mean, the old one was broken and so stupidly complex for many users, so I don't see that as a feasible option. A context menu needs to be simple to use, and for me the Windows 11 style actually worked really well for me, and many others. I used to have to scroll the damn context menu just to get to "file properties" in Windows 10. That was not a good experience, and I'm sure you'd agree. What they're trying to do is make it the best of both worlds, as clearly you'd prefer the Win10 style. I'm curious how they're going to do this.
    • The "Show more options" has its place, as does the simpler context menu, but it should perhaps be a separate fly-out rather than relaunching the entire, old context menu. The old context menu was getting absurd in Windows 10. Often I'd have to make the context menu scroll just to get to "File properties" on my old laptop. Even without much installed, the amount of items was just too much. It's a context menu, not a "do all" menu. Making it configurable is fraught with challenges too, so I'm interested to see how Microsoft tackles this one.
    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
