If a Neowinian wins this, it would be great to include 'Neowin & Unfiction" on the inscription. Without the help of these two communities, it's unlikely you would have won. So let's be fair if someone here does win.

Doesn't your name gets inscribed? Or can you choose something else?

@Rob,

I don't think you can put "Neowin & Unfiction" on the chip because you entered a certain name while registering. That's the name that will go on the chip I'm pretty sure. Otherwise, you could put anything you want and that wouldn't be right.

Actually, I talked to Chris, the head of AMD Community Relations at the Party in Seattle. He suggested that we would be able to put just about anything on there we wanted, within reason. So when I said that a "SuperRob" processor would be a great thing, he said they could do that. I can't see why you couldn't inscribe "Neowin" or something ... but if I win, it's a SuperRob processor, baby!

The Opteron name, derived from the Latin word optimus for ?best,? helps AMD position the upcoming enterprise CPU against Intel?s Itanium and Xeon server chips. The chipmaker states that the seamless dual 64-bit/32-bit operating modes of Opteron open up scaling possibilities from low-end Xeon-class servers to enterprise level Itanium-class applications.

Anyone else think that a marriage proposal would totally rock if done this way?

I got this from unifiction... thought it may be helpfull..

FINAL puzzle is to find Loki's real name, and this is what irc has been playing with:

earlier solve: LORELEY/LORELEI

From /collection plate we had figured out yesterday the shield was the symbol of: ODESSA

After getting all the puzzles today /more_answers had a multi-layer word find puzzle, which yielded hex (see above) which when translated into ascii gives us: KARA

In the final video after solving today's puzzles Loki told us about /lokiv -- this page makes it clear we are looking for all of Loki's actual names rather than her anagram. So Loreley Odessa Kara? (or Lorelei?)

Then at the end of the video this flashed: /roamingroaming, which sends you on a trip : start from a mystery location (which many assume means the Fremont Studio in Seattle where the secret party was held, but others are suggesting other starting points), follow the directions to Europe and back, and we assume we are looking for a place that starts with "I" Here's the direction sequence from Loki's glasses/statements in the videos: R U R D L D L D

If it's a state, we've probably got Illinois and Indiana covered. If it's a town, yikes. Good luck!

Oh and I take credit for none of this, although I did solve the word puzzle myself too. This is collected from all the great players in irc.

From loki's phone message:

"Hi, this is Loki. Or rather her electronic footprint left behind on this machine.

Funny how the inanimate world retains traces of things long after they've disappeared, isn't it?.

If you're calling about the murmuring rock project, it's on hold indefinitely ... unfortunately."

Things that stick out:

"Electronic footprint"

"inanimate world"

"retains traces of things long after they've disappeared"

"... unfortunately"

Maybe something prehistoric, like a dinosaur footprint, or a "footprint" in ancient mythology. A fossil would retain traces of things. Also, she hints by that message that she may have already disappeared--wonder if that means anything. Also, why is it "unfortunate" that the Loreley (murmuring rock) project is "on hold"?

Remember, she said she's a puzzle, so let's use all the clues. We seem to be focusing quite a lot on the glasses/directions clue.

FINAL puzzle is to find Loki's real name, and this is what irc has been playing with:

I still disagree with the name thingy, we have four answers to find ...

1 - What

2 - Is

3 - My

4 - Name

We know that they are four sisters, my guess is that each one of them is a clue for each

answer ...

about using mean vectors to try to solve the directions all in one go:

don't forget, the earth is a sphere, not flat, so you'd have to apply the vectors in 3 dimensions, not to mention that the distances would be arc lengths since you'd be following the earth's surface.

good point, because when I wen't 1611.908 miles southeast from seattle, I ended up at my house...

With regard to roamingroaming...

Do you really think we need to find a single, discrete location?

I haven't made it all the way through yet, but I have had some success linking locations. Perhaps we need to be following the entire trail, and then doing something with the name of each location, to find a word?
