Is it still possible to download either RC1 or RC2?

Recommended Posts

Right, long story short, i have RC1 installed on my desktop upstairs, and its just died. Its no longer bootable at all, and after "searching for boot record from HDD", it instantly reboots.

Ive installed windows 98 to a second partition and it works, so i know its a software issue, but my RC1 disk has a major scratch, and it looks like its had a dodgy run in with my toolkit.

So does anyone know if Microsoft still have the ISO hosted, as i just cant find it, i cant find it on MSDN, and i really really dont wanna use windows 98 on here (it was built with the intention of using vista on it, and ordering myself a copy when the test period expired).

Thanks

is too late to find RC1, why not to get the RTM version?

Because:

a) i dont have the money at the moment, will do in about a month though.

b) i would like to try to recover the OS, and i doubt very much that you can repair rc1 with an RTM disk

it isnt really too much hastle, but i dont have any spare OS licenses for this PC (as it was a custom build, and went straight onto Vista RC1).

You can use RTM for a month before you have to activate it and by then you will have the money to buy it. If I was you, keep with XP MCE and wait until SP1 comes out with Vista.
