Learning about DSLR

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just recently got a Nikon DSLR (D40) and have been using the auto function quote Well. I really do want to progress past this and was wondering whether their is a book I can purchase which can help me understand about ISO each,m and when to use the correct functions (situations).

Any help would be great!

I think the internet is a good resource, check out wikipedia for definitions and understand them quite a bit, and go through photography websites for how people use the different modes for shooting. Then comes experimentation on your own, besides, you need not worry about cost of film much like what we use to do, just experiemnt

Many thanks for the reply

Recommnend any good websites?

Thanks

I wrote 2 "articles" in my (not so updated) blog about ISO levels and Macro shots...

Here is the photography category. http://blog.stevofc.com/?cat=14

That might help you a bit with those 2 things.

If you want to learn about ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, how they relate to each other, and how you can use different combinations to get the shot you want depending on the situation, then purchase "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. It's a highly readable book, and will clear up the mystery of exposure which isn't really too difficult at all to get started with :)
