nvidia makes the best stuff around, they made the first dx10 cards.

how much are you willing to spend?!?!?!?

heres my card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814133016

this one here is kinda nice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814150216

if u have no price range, look at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814133187

if u r looking for something within 150, this would be what i would get ($120): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130073

if u r looking for something mid-price range, here ya go: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130048

if u aren't worried about how good drivers work, go for nvidia. if u r, go for ati, but nvidia makes the best stuff around. even though the drivers aren't fully compatible with vista, they still go just as good.

I'm in the same boat. My graphics card score is 1. I have an Radeo 9200 and have been happy with it so far, but Media Center and my TV Wonder are not happy with it. The video when I watch TV is really shaky and unstable. I'm looking for an AGP card in the sub $100 dollar range. Any suggestions?

Why all ATi .... Because they're the only ones with drivers that work properly on Windows Vista and have solid performance and good price.

hey, i wanted to ask one thing. Does the performance of graphics card helps in running Aero? I am using my Vista for everything other then gaming.....all i need is aero, so is it that upgrading from FX 5700 to say a 7300GT or 7600GS help in runing Aero & Vista UI faster?

with the newest betas they work just as good as xp (at least for me they work perfectly).

if all u want is aero then get a 7300GS. plays games and runs aero with top-notch performance and is less tha $80.

Ati, by far! Ati's drivers for Vista are pretty good (ok, OpenGL is lacking a bit, but hardly anyone is using it).

nVidia's drivers for Vista are abysmally bad :x

For a cheap one, go for a X1300 one. Or get a 1650 Pro if you're willing to spend a little more.

I would recomend ati any day... not really sure why, just heard bad things about nvidia, and always been a ati man myself.

was running a 9700pro on vista for a few months, no problems, then got a new comp a week or so ago with a x1950pro it's frickin sweet, but the past few days catalyst (the manager thingo) will not start up sometimes... it's wierd...

i've owned nothing but ATi cards and i can tell you the systems i've delt with that have had Nvidia cards in them have been nothing but headaches and aggrivation to me.

I've never had an issue with drivers from ATi until the latest version of Vista drivers which was an oddity where the actual driver didn't install but the catalyst control center did. I re-installed and it worked fine.

It's really a preference if you ask me, they both do things well and they both have good cards. So all in all it's about getting the best bang for your buck. However i tend to sway towards ATi for the most part :)

Can anybody tell me which one is the best for a PCI-E X16 slot? Considering the cost factor also...

nVidia all the way man. Prices are cheap and the products are great.

My 7300GS was only $79.99 and it will play ANYTHING, 60+ FPS at 1280x1024 all highest settings; 1280x1024 is my 19" lcd's max res.

sure drivers aren't all that great right now for vista, but they are very very close to perfecting them. the newest beta drivers are the best ones out so far.

Looks like Direct X 10 is coming in Q2 of this year. Do we have to wait till then or can we buy something and update to new direct x?

Looks like most are for ATI, will keep my eye on it.... Now 256 MB will do or do I have to go above that?

I've got a 512 card, if you game at all i wouldn't advise buying that expensive of a card right now, i'd wait for the DX10 stuff to come out and when they do, i'd buy one of those.

umm...what are you talking about? nvidia makes a DX10 card, the 8800 series; and its been out for a while.

Nvidia.

The latest drivers are WHQL for Nvidia card, and in a month they will be up to performance.

ATI is done with video card business...pretty much R600 is delayed again, and NVIDIA will have ready 8900GTX.

wow one extra card... look the reason it's delayed because ATi/AMD arn't being stupid and bringing just high end 2800 cards and leaving everyone else in the rain for 6 months they will be probably dropping a whole range from high mid and low to compete with nvidias business model which i can almost guarantee that this is why it's been delayed for "strategic market plans" or whatever. So most likely once 8900 is out you will be seeing X2300 X2600 X2800 cards. And they are far from done with the video card business. They just have better time preparation.
