Hey you'll never know, MS is known for stealing.

Ahem! What do you mean? Microsoft has never stole anything from anybody! Why do people keep saying that.

I have used a Mac and it is nothing like Vista in the look and feel. Also, MS did not steal Gadgets (or "Dashboard Widgets" as Mactards like to call them), MS started developing Gadgets in the Alpha versions of Longhorn.

As for the fake screenshots, they do look nice, but then I also loved the installation screen of IE 7 aswell ;-)

I was never a fan of Apple's Dock, but that dock type thingy looks OK I suppose. I think if they did get rid of the taskbar in the next verison of the OS, it would be a nice change - I'm bored of it now; however, they could create something much better than Apple's Dock if they use their imagination...

Wow, hell of a lot of BS in this thread. Specifically:

I think mac's dock patent is almost ready to expire since it's been like almost 6 or so years since the dock was patented if it was patented. So technically by the time the next windows version is released ms could use the dock if they wanted to.

lol?

smells like a big fake :D

Glassed Silver:mac

edit: / addition:

a patent runs as long as the patent holder holds up the patent.

IF apple has a patent on the dock (allthough ive seen several dock apps for windows in my life, but who knows) they will most likely keep the patent for just as long as they use it in their OS if they are clever.

and they are, i can tell you that

I don't think Apple has a patent on the Dock, as they weren't the first to invent it, and there are other docking applications for Windows, such as RocketDock.

The Dock comes from NeXT/OpenStep, which Apple purchased and based Mac OS X on. I'm fairly certain I read that Apple patented both the Dock and it's Genie minimizing effect.

Apple's legal department did send a cease and disist order to the developer of Y'z Dock. Not sure why RocketDock is still around.

The dock is the worse UI disaster ever. Completely utterly useless, Ms would never crippple themselves that badly. As much as they have copied and crippled themselves in the past, they know the reason Mac stays at 1% and it's that shameful thing called the dock.

Has absolutely nothing to do with design, and *everything* to do with licensing decisions made many, many years ago by both MS and Apple.
